Help needed on bringing scope from dubai

Dear all,
One of my friend is in duabi, he doesn't knows much about air rifles only some basic things, i asked him to buy me a scope he told that he will buy it for me.
I am based at Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu) (INDIA) ?
Can somebody who has previous experience in bringing scopes to INDIA, Mostly inside TamilNadu help me out?
Either bring it in Hand Luggage or Baggage?
What has to be replied to customs if they ask for what is it? (I told him to reply as "Sports Optics /Sports Telescope")
Any other things to be done ?
Please help me out with some useful info.....
