SDB 45-A beautiful comfort i was looking for....

First of all thanks Mr. Basu, without you it was impossible to acquire this beautiful thing in my hand……
So lets start….
I am a proud owner of IHP N35,N25 and Now a SDB 45,
Before SDB I was thinking that N25 is the most comfortable and ultimate pleasure to shoot, but now my concept has changed,
But,one thing raw SDB is not a joyous ,I have to do serious tuning on that, later on I will discuss the tuning part….One thing I must mention
I have given only 30 coil spring[Cherokee 27] for ultimate comfort….so short that with guide it remains inside the chamber only.
Now lets discuss about the rifle:-
1.Fit and Finish:
Just awesome, glossy burnish feel like vintage wooden things, much better than IHP and the bluing terrible..very nice
2.Tollerence:
I must say it is a zero tolerance rifle, opening the hinge screw I have to put much effort…the barrel –no movement possible right and left
3.Balance:
One ,who have not taken the rifle in hand can not understand how well balanced the rifle is…in iIHP’s you will always feel that the front portion is heavy but in it….it is so well balanced that you do not have to hold it to the target it will automatically sit on your hand
4.Performance and Accuracy
Most of us including me having a disease, we run behind the Velocity not shooting comfort…my IHP 35 is tuned for that and delivers 760 fps..with an gigantic blast and a vibration not more but definitely much more than SDB,
This time I was pre decided to make it as soft as possible and to enjoy the ultimate comfort, which is heavenly…really its heavenly..when I hit coke bootless cap from 10-15 meters without any hustle and about zero effort about zero cocking ,the pleasure..i cant buy it from anywhere…
Every rifle has its own liking for pellets…SDB shows its liking towards AIMCO diabolo..weights 11.6 to 11.72 grains[.22] and delivers about 535-545 Fps.i am very happy with this velocity ,because even a small boy can cock the rifle…and no recoil no twang no jerk…..
Previously trigger was hard I have given diamond polish treated with molly to make it down to about 1100 gm only and even with long pull.
And tit is provided with peep sights too which is very useful for mid distance shooting, with this rifle I can easily hit nice groups each time, and every time,
And I do not know why,but the rifle is having inherent capability to absorb the shocks within itself and very less sound…..
Finally I want to say…I feel lucky to have this in my hand……

Congrats Harsh on your new acquisition - the SDB45 :D
Very true - Velocity is not everything in an AR - Glad you have realized that :D
Let see some pictures of the AR & the groupings - 10mtrs, 20mtrs & 30mtrs.

Harshvardhan - I have a 20 year old SDB 50 that I tuned myself after it was respringed by a local dealer. It behaved so badly after the new Cherokee spring was put in that I removed and cut off 5-6 rings of the spring. After that my SDB has been pure joy - exactly the way you describe it. Smooth and easy to cock, very accurate, not loud and it gives me 150 meters per sec with 700-750 mg pellets.

My only complaint was that the original sights were very very poor and I had to do a lot of hacking to set that right. Once I got past that problem the rifle is pure pleasure. After reading your post I phoned SDB today - and although it is a Sunday in thye middle of Diwali someone answered and told me the name of an SDB dealer in Bangalore. I will check that [lace out soon.

This rifle is having Very good front and rear sight and with peep also,
And it is having scope rail too...I have removed 9 coils and delivering 540 fps with aimco round head same as yours,
and yours 150 m/sec or about 490 fps,the reason is i have fitted TTI seal which i have purchased earlier

everyday before going to office...i just can not resist myself to shoot one pellet if i get chance...
This rifle taught me pleasure and accuracy is every thing......for velocity we often sacrifice this....

Dear Harsha,
I did not help you much other than creating a connection between buyer and seller.
I do have some observations which are common with you.
1) This gun comes with out of the box accuracy.
2) It makes low noise.
3) Vibration is low even with hard spring.
4) Since the weight is distributed so nicely ,it sits on target very easily.
5) It comes with worst internals, may be a night mare for newbie.
During my first tuning, I used 26.4 cm cherokee spring but , alas , it broke after 800 shots.
I went back to stock spring and further worked on trigger, it delivers 600-625 fps with 11.6 grns
AimcoRH.(data cronoconnect)
It will not be ideal to compare it with IHP 35 since I do not have that but SDB 45 attracts me more
than my National 25 in any given day.
It gives me tremendous pleasure while shooting at 10 mtrs or 30 mtrs.
My per week pellet consumption has tripled these days.

Basu

Note : I forgot to mention that since your gun is delivering 540 fps with 30 coil Cherokee 27 (wire dia 3 mm),it is delivering too much.My gun with 38 coils (wire dia 3.2 mm) delivers 625 fps.You have no cocking effort as such. I can tell you this is a very very rare phenomenon found among air guns.

Only one? You should shoot three! Muzzle velocity means nothing if there is no accuracy.

Hi
I had the opportunity of shooting Harsh's SDB 45 as well. I must tell you its pure pleasure. You wont even feel the shot unless you see the pellet hitting the target. The cocking effort was minimum even less than the N25. And the report was quiet, standing near 10 yrds you will hardly hear it. I have never fired a foreign Air rifle but i guess the experience will be similar :D.
Summary:- Job well done brother.
Regards Moulindu

Dear Harsh,
I presume that the AR is scoped.
Otherwise sighting the fine cross lines is just not possible.
To my mind , this is the outstanding performance at 40 yds for SDB 45 classic.
Its nice balance and vibration absorbing capacity makes it accurate fr very 1st shot.
By the way ,what was the pellet ?

Hi saint,
You are mistaken ,this is an air rifle, not firearm.
