Hi friends,
I have a precihole ORION air rifle and I suspect it has barrel droop problem. Today I fitted the rifle in a vice with padded jaws and adjusted the position of the rifle so that receiver is level by placing a bubble level on top of the receiver. Then I placed the bubble level on top of the barrel and found that the barrel is not level and there is a little bit of barrel droop. Now my question is whether it is possible to correct this fault without having to send the gun to the Precihole factory. If yes please advice. Thank you,

Dear GNV,
your gun has got conginetal disease and this can be cured by experts only ,either from factory or by a gunsmith.
I have seen how gunsmiths do that.
They hold the gun on a vice, put some easy erasable colour on the breech area of action then cock.The colour leaves an impression on other interface and then using a light file they give the exact axis to the gun.
It is a 15 mnts work for experts only.
Do not venture into it , lose may be irrepairable.
You can go ahead shooting if you have no other issue because this disease does not affect accuracy or power at all unless too severe.

Note-I do not own any precihole gun

Is the droop hampering performance? If yes then talk to precihole and they should be able to fix it for you. Most break barrel springers have droop or the reverse of it in varying degrees.

Sorry saw this thread today. Had spoken to the good Doc about this issue some time back. He told me that a slight droop is a result of the design and not barrel bend as usually happens. So was that slight droop introduced on purpose ? Definitely - came the reply. Most people affix scopes atop the Orion and a shimmy here and there is required. Thus to compensate, the tiny droop is introduced. In any case a slight droop is better than a slight upward turn/ bend form the hinge joint perspective as well. "But", I pointed out, "there are some shooters like me who like to shoot open sights." The Doc smiled and said, "For you there are the clicks".
Now from personal experience, even my Pegasus has that slight droop (not a downward bend which is the fault in the barrel) but that has not hampered its accuracy or the joy of shooting out of it.

Thank you for your response to my post. But I am afraid that what you were told about slight barrel droop being a deliberate design feature is incorrect. It is a manufacturing fault which could take place when fitting the barrel breech block to the receiver tube due to poor skills of the technician doing the job or due to a bad chisel barrel lock. The Precihole guns' s receivers and barrels are not interchangeable.i.e, you can not fit the barrel of one ORION to the receiver of another ORION and vice versa because they are matched and fitted manually and everything depends on the skill of the technician doing the job. However barrel drooping does not affect the rifles accuracy when using the open sights because the barrel axis and the guns sights are on the same plane.
But when using a scope it becomes a pain in the neck. The scopes are not shimmed when using with a gun that has no drooping barrel. The scopes are shimmed at the rear ring a bit up to compensate for the barrel droop so that the scopes sighting axis and the barrel axis would be in correct relation to each other.
If one only shoots with the open sights at up to 10 yards it is a tack driver and a joy to shoot. But if one wishes to use a scope for long range shooting one would have to be lucky enough to get an ORION with out any barrel droop.
