My New Customized AR - Turboshot 22cal
My New Customized AR - TURBOSHOT - 0.22 cal
> A dream project has finally taken shape!
> A Lean – Mean Break Barrel Springer – All Muscle & No Fat…The likes of which one finds in a HARLEY DAVIDSON, when compared with the glitzy DUCATI or a HAYABUSA.
> Every conceivable advancement / improvement that can possibly be incorporated in an Air Rifle has been taken care of.
> Right from the choice of metal for the receiver, precision CNC engineering, ergonomics, aesthetics, design and function all integrated in its design & manufacturing process.
THE WORKS
1.Seamless tube receiver - CNC machined to perfection with ‘O’ tolerance with a 3.65 mm dia. transfer port and internals turned to install very fine micro landings to retain lubricant film.
2.Precision machined breech + neoprene ‘O’ ring seal
3.The piston is a revolutionary design & precision turned.
4.DENIL synthetic seal + Hi- Power spring with custom made SS rear guide & top hat.
5.Fore & aft of the piston fitted with polymer thrust bearings to ensure its friction free movement.
6.Modified barrel locking mechanism to ensure perfect locking & no barrel droop.
7.Original Diana35 Micro-metric Rear Sight.
8.An adjustable 2 stage trigger with the final pull = 850gms approx
9.Automatic safety
10.Specially designed Muzzle Brake with dampers to optimize reduction of air turbulence during pellet exit & provide ease in cocking.
11.Stock smooth sanded, followed by 3 coats of finishing oil + melamine - macho matte finish.
12.Checkering on pistol grip to ensure firm grip.
13.Integral machined 11mm groove with scope stopper.
14.Bushnell 4 – 12 x 40 Variable Scope with AO - fixed with BKL single piece mount.
General Specs
1.Weight: 10.25 lbs with scope
2.Barrel Length: 15.00" w/o Muzzle Brake
3.Overall Length: 44”
4.Cocking Effort: 35+ lbs
5.Power Plant: Spring-piston
6.Action: Brake Barrel
7.Safety: Automatic
• It took well over 6 months to conceptualize, design & produce it which was well worth the time & money spent.
• Ergonomically it complemented the artillery hold - Ideally suited for comfortable shooting.
• 6 nos. RWS 14gr HP pellets & 6 nos. of 15.2gr pellets (these are under development) were shot at targets kept approx. 30yds & 30ft away respectively.
• Consistency in performance turned out to be excellent for both brands of pellets as can be seen from the images attached.
• RWS withstood the flight path even when a light breeze was present outdoors at the time of testing, while the 15.2gr pellets were tested indoors.
• In my considered opinion I would settle for the 15.2gr pellet as the standard ammo for all my ARs for the following reasons:
1. Excellent finish, uniform configuration & perfect fit in the breech.
2. Easy availability (when it becomes commercially sold by local dealers)
3. Affordable price as compared to the more expensive foreign brands of pellets.
4.Good combination of velocity & energy.
The TURBOSHOT 0.22cal is a shooter’s dream come true!

Briha Sir, let me be the first person to congratulate you on this wonderful review! I can already anticipate this thread getting bombarded with questions in near future I must admit its a mean looking air gun I already have few questions for you...
What is the fps of this air gun?
Can the piston be converted to gas ram?
What is the expected date of its arrival in Indian market?
And the toughest of all, what is its expected Price?
Btw the stock design looks pretty similar to that of Precihole Air guns

Re: My New Customized AR - Turboshot 22cal
Extremely sorry Briha Sir...I realized after posting that its a fully customized airgun! Such is the look of this gun that I thought that you have reviewed an air gun which is still under manufacturing process.. ..congratulations on the wonderful upgrades...it looks flawless...I am already disheartened after realizing that it wont be mass produced for market..

Re: My New Customized AR - Turboshot 22cal
Congratulations Brihaji,
Hope you remember showing me pics of this beast during the development stage but I kept it a secret as promised. Must say the end result is fantastic.
Going by the accuracy would be it wrong to assume that the fps is not beyond 850 ?
Regards
TC

Briha Sir,
Great looking Rifle. But the end of the for end looks terrible to me (only) and the checkering is also out of scale and grotesque again to my eyes only. And may I request you to post the photos of the completely dismantled gun ? Thank you,
Regards,
GNV.

@Basu - Sir, it's 30 ft about 10 yards. But I am sure that it will replicate the performance at 30 yards as well.
@Brihcharan - Looking forward to a darshanam visit.

Briha.....very neat.
just love the "old school" classic looks of the stock and it shoots as good as it looks
lots of questions......but I am sure you will have a detailed review out later.
if, as TC assumes around 850 fps......we are looking at some very serious numbers in terms of energy.
15.2grn g smith pellets......interesting.

When are you planning to be at home with this beauty? I'll drop in and try my hand at getting a one-hole group at 30 yards...................
Cool acquisition, sir!!

Hi
Well Brihaji never stops amazing us.
Great job Brihaji
ragards Moulindu
Well Brihaji never stops amazing us.
Forgive my ignorance If its not mass produced then there is less of an issue of legal limit as long as the velocity to accuracy equation is mantained..... look at the edguns & matadors they acquire whooping 20fpe....easily bought & used in India.PRITAM PATEL wrote:if, as TC assumes around 850 fps......we are looking at some very serious numbers in terms of energy.

Re: My New Customized AR - Turboshot 22cal
To All My Brothers in IFG who have responded to my TURBOSHOT post – My Big & Sincere Thanks!
Frankly I was expecting a “Breech Load” of questions –
Herewith my response…
BASU
Yes – The trigger pressure is 850gms = 1.850lbs
MOLINDU
Observing ‘Legal Limits’ is advisable & Fps is a well kept secret!
MERCURY
Agree a conventional look is appealing to true AR aficionados! Fps is comparatively of less importance – Main concern is consistent accuracy!
TC
Your assumption of Fps is close but not that high – But sufficient enough!
PRITAM PATEL
Obsession with Fps compromises accuracy – TURBOSHOT is far superior – Remember big claims on fps is always done with PBA (Performance Ballistic Alloy) light weight pellets that are 11gr / 12gr.
TARGET
As mentioned in my post TURBOSHOT is custom built – Not manufactured for commercial sale – May be in the near future ‘The power plant including 2 stage trigger’ could be made available on special orders.
GNV
Agree with you – I’ve since sanded off the fore-end to remove the ‘dot-matrix’ & knocked off the extension to reveal a part of the cocking arm – Looks macho now! Sorry about dismantling the AR – I have put lock-tite on all fasteners!
KUMARNISHITH
Presently no easy provision to install Gas Ram – TURBOSHOT is an out & out Springer - However it could be done with some machining. Regarding ‘Price’ - don’t want to commit as it was a one-off job – To give you an idea it’s around twice the cost of an IHP!!! BTW – For a true AR fan it’s all about Value & Performance while price is of secondary consideration. Finally it adds up-to “The thrill & joy of having accomplished something one has set out to do & accomplished!!!
Will try & post some more pics shortly with minor cosmetics done to the stock.
Thank you Guys once again for your appreciation & response … It’s what keeps me alert & kicking!
Cheers
