Hello All

I am a begineer in shooting, I dont know much about air guns but I played with some from childhood so I am fond of them. I have used many plastic BB guns and as an airgun just used the indian made air pistol which we see in local fare.

I want to buy a good air pistol and a air rifle, I checked many on net like Crossman Big Cat 1250, Hatsan Striker 1000S Vortex Gas model, and many more. But I am confused which one of it will give me pleasure of real shooting and will give a good range, power and accuracy. Also I heard that we can't buy CO2 gun here in India.

Please put some light on my situation and help me in purchasing my first air gun.

I am currently in Pune, let me know if here only I can get the guns like hatsan crossman n all, cause purchasing them from airgundepot.com or other will cost 4-5000 extra for shipping. my budget is about 10000rs.

thanks in advance...

Hi Nishichotu...Welcome Onboard! Do post an introduction in the appropriate section. Already much have been discussed in different threads regarding your queries, go through them you will sure find the answer. Keeping your budget In mind I would suggest you to go for either IHP 35 or Precihole SX 100. Both are Indian made Airguns with fairly decent reviews.
As far as importing air guns/pistols is concerned I am afraid to state that you will have to shell out much more than Rs10,000 in order to get hold of a foreign made air gun unless & until you are planning to bring one via personal baggage route!

Do checkout following threads before zeroing on your first air gun!

Hello Nishith

This is Nishant :), I have gone through the posts you have mentioned but they are very old.
As an update i have heard many things changed, so need guideline as per current scenario.
And I dont want Indian made air gun, I would like to have an Hatsan 1000S vortex gas model. Can you please suggest me the way I can easily get it.
*I am not a member of any rifle club.
*I have checked gun price on airgundepot.com, its 180$ i.e. 9000rs approx and nearly 5000rs for shipping.
*Please let me know if I can get this gun anywhere in India only, cheaper than this.
*As I am purchasing it through the airgundepot.com, will all the import formality taken care by me or site itself.

please help me,if someone has gone through the same phase I an going through.

Thanx ..

Hi Nishant,

Please let me know if I can get this gun anywhere in India only, cheaper than this.

Short Answer is NO

Slightly Big answer: :D
It is very unlikely that you will find the above mentioned Air gun ready for sale in any Gun House/dealer. Even if you find one, be ready to shell out 3-4 times the original price of the airgun

As I am purchasing it through the airgundepot.com, will all the import formality taken care by me or site itself

Without the air rifle club membership be prepared for your air gun to get consifcated by the custom dept.

AFAIK, Your best bet to get hold of a Foreign made Air Rifle is:

A)get an air rifle club membership...furnish all the documents...import the gun via courier route. (Transition may still cause headache & delay)

b) Shell out a little bit of premium and send your air rifle club membership letter to sites like Relishsports.com...relax and wait for your air gun to arrive in couple of weeks. (Many people on IFG have gone through this route and are more than satisfied) :)

C) bring back an air rifle from your off shore visit (Personal baggage route). But you will still need an air rifle club membership to prevent duties and possible confiscation! :)

D) Shell out 3-4 times the original amount and buy the air rifle from a gun dealer/house. :(

Boss. You have decided which gun you want
You have decided the price.
You need help only about how to get the gun of your choice for the price of your choice. If I knew a way of getting that gun for that price in India, I would buy it myself.

Reminds me of when I was searching for a wife. I knew it had to be a woman. And I knew I would marry her. I only did not know who it would be. I found this method of selection helpful back then :D

I would suggest you follow kumarnishith's advice. He has suggested two good rifles.
