Airsoft import advice

Hey all,

New here, so forgive me if I am starting a new thread for the same old beaten topic.

Airsoft!!

I intend on buying an airsoft rifle and only an airsoft rifle. I don't want to be shooting pellets.

So where can I buy these in India? Maybe in Mumbai / Pune? I don't suppose stores like aim point or the others in Pune actually sell airsoft guns.

I checked the airsoft guns India website, but the thing looks shady to me. The fellow in the videos is just trying to sell those guns by the looks of it 'big gun.. Big gun' is all he has today for it. Not to mention that they sound expensive for their worth.

BIG QUESTION, CAN I IMPORT AN AIRSOFT GUN IN INDIA? I would not be comfortable spending more than 5000 Rs for it.

If yes, just tell me how. All advise is appreciated..

Regards,

Cactus

Dear Vikram,

That was fast! Thanks..

Mind pushing me in the right direction, links or something to those threads.
All I got was some review about guns that members bought, but no info about how to buy them.

Thanks,

Cactus

Okay, so I went through all the possible threads here about airsofts and I am not happy with the info that I have gathered.
I had a few airsoft guns while I was away from India. I want one in India.
SO answer me questions these.

I am not a member of any gun club. I just want an airsoft for some plain old plinking.
Will I be able to find any at the gun shops around in Pune / Mumbai? if yes, that would be awesome.

If not, How can I order them online?
do I need some sort of a license for it?

More specifically, I want to order from www.airsoftmegastore.com OR pyramidairsoft.com
Advise me how to do that...

Dear Cactus,

Airsoft guns (6mm ammo), commonly known as plastic BB's are surprisingly considered illegal in India. Even if you order from pyramidair.com, they will cancel your order saying that they only ship .177 Air guns as 6mm Airsoft weapons are not allowed in India.

So Import though postal/courier route is almost impossible. There are many members here who got airsoft guns in baggage. But I guess it all depends on your luck.

Hi Kdbanan,

Firstly Airsoft guns are not illegal in India. please post with written evidence if it is otherwise as you mentioned. import of .177 implied for airguns which need rifle club membership. import of blanks, fire arms, rifle scopes and other weapons are restricted. Ideally Airsoft guns should not have such issue as they are neither blank nor firearms but babus at customs may cause problem because of realistic appearance of Airsoft guns as some comes in metal as well.

@ cactus
here is the answer you are looking for since I also had question like you and could not find answer in the various threads.

I had imported three Airsoft guns via postal route without any problem from DX.com but they were of plastic and not very realistic .I also got one Gas Blow Back full metal more than 1Kg in weight through postal but I think I got lucky to get it without any encounter with customs. as per my search on Face Book or different forums with various people who brought online Airsoft, many people had imported AIrsoft guns, some got lucky but some had to convince customs some times give demo to get them released. mostly they are slapped with 30-40% customs duties.

in summery Import Airsoft if you are willing to take pain of convincing and able to convince the customs Or if you are feeling lucky.

airsoftmegastore.com does not ship to India. piramid air will cost you 70$+ for shipping any gun to India, http://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/ and http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Home will cost 20$- 48$ shipping depending on weight of Items you order. Their shipping costs are low as they are HK based uses HK post, Singapore post or chaina post. you can receive Items withing 15 days of order.

if you are not comfortable sending beyond Rs.5000 then simply drop the Idea, as in that price with shipping you will get spring gun only(may be good metal quality) other gas guns or rifles will cost more than 5000/- I got my GBB for Rs.6500/-
If you wish to get Airsoft small spring metal pistol then it is locally available for Rs.2700/- at arms dealer in Mumbai. I hope this helps

Hi Uv

I stand corrected. Airsoft weapons are legal but not recognized in India. My post was based on the email from pyramidair.com that they had stopped shipping airsoft guns to india(Maybe because of the problems created by the babus).

Thanks again

Exactly, Airsoft guns are not recognised in India. There's no mention of Airsoft in custom policy.

Hi UV,

You mentioned that you have imported a gas blowback pistol. Could you please share how you could manage to get the gas ( gun power) for the pistol?

Even I have a GBB pistol:)-

Hi Kiran,
Yes, I saw your 92FS.
for green gas, I simply ordered it online from http://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/ , you will get it for 6-12$ + shipping around 30$ but 6-8 week to reach you by road.

Hi UV,

That's correct and even I have ordered from them and I am still waiting for the gas:-(

For time being I have purchased one can from airsoftindia store. And that is very expensive. Here after I will ship it myself:-)

How about shipping 10 cans at time? actually that will save the shipping charges. I dont think there will be any customs issue as this would be for my personal use.

Hello All,

I am in Germany, here I have seen very good BB guns. These are heavy plastic body guns, looks very realistic, automatic and powered by a battery. These are available in gun stores only. Even though the gun shop owner was referring them as toy guns, these are not available in toy stores. Price start from 150 Euro appx.

So my question is, can I bring them back to India? I don't have any club or association membership. I asked the gun shop owner and he told there is no problem in taking them out from Germany but he don't know about Indian rules.

Hi Abhi,

As far as I know, you can carry a pistol or revolver ( airsoft) in the specified case and declare it in the airport.

You also need carry the original bill along with the gun. The gun should be completely unloaded and unbolted with no BBs.

All this should be in your check in baggage ( never in your cabin baggage).

Please don't think about carrying gas or co2 cartridges in flight. It's not at all allowed both in check in and cabin.

You carry plastic BBs but not metal BBs. Please declare in advance with airport authorities and please know their rules and procedures thoroughly.

Once you come here, you will have to declare it in indian customs too. They may impose duty depending on the mood and attitude ;-)

You don't require membership as this is only airsoft.
