DIY - Determining COCKING EFFORT

Since my SX100s manufacturer didn't mention the cocking effort for the break barrels, I figured I'd have to do it myself.

I read someplace that the easiest DIY method to measure the cocking effort of your break barrel Air Gun is to do it on a conventional manual (not digital) bathroom weigh scale.

HERE'S HOW:

- Lay a hard-cover book on the scale (to distribute force) on the weigh scale;

- break open the breach of your air gun;

- place the muzzle of the barrel on the centre point of the book which is laying on top of the weigh scale;

- and steadily cock the gun.

Note the peak weight displayed on the scale measure, that is the 'cocking effort' required to cock your airgun.

We must, however, take care to try and not break the front sights of our guns while doing so .

The common standard is measured in lbs, so we convert our Kgs to lbs and voila!

I'm yet to try it, the weigh scale I have is a digital glass make, so I guess I'm going to borrow a conventional spring based weigh scale.

For those who prefer the AV to reading, here's the a youtube link of something similar to give us an idea:
