Indians For Guns

I would like to gift my 5 yr old nephew his first gun - a BB air gun. I was looking at Blanca air pistol with target set (from Aimco) . Would any one recommend it ? Any other options ?

For sure I will explain the safety requirements to my nephew & his parents on usage and to use it only under their direct supervision.

Check out older threads on Blanca. Seems to be a piece of you-know-what. Plus I think a 5-year-old will have hands too small to hold the same.

Right now you can get him an airsoft. It seems our Chennai pals get some good deals, and there also seeem to be decent availability in Delhi (check out the threads).

Or a Nerf for extremely safe fun, available in every mall / toy shop in the country!

Of course, you can let him use your Orion after a couple of years. My son (8) shoots with a rest on the Orion, of course, with me supervising and loading. He started on my old SDB a year back.

I think I will start him off with an airsoft gun and depending upon if he was a good boy will get him a Blanca next year !

People on this forum have reported Blanca breaking up and velocity approaching zero. Better go for a proper IHP airpistol a little later. Unfortunately, proper BB stuff isn't available here!

(I just remembered I had seen a very nice airsoft bolt action rifle in kids' size last year in that huge mall near Saket in Delhi. Shaped like the old time Mausers, with a proper clip and all! Couldn't get it, unfortunately, as I was flying out without any check-in luggage.)

Just don't get airsofts from e-bay, a word of advice from a sufferer!!

Ha ! Just before your message I was looking at Ebay ! Thanks for the advise. I assume the best will be to move my lazy ass to a toy store and get him something good & safe. However am not sure if I can control myself to buying it just for him ! May end up with a toy for myself as well . he he he ... will update once I have made my purchase.
