What happens to Air Rifles confiscated by Customs ?

Dear friends,
Every month, airport customs do confiscate several Air Rifles / Air Pistols. What do they do to them? Do they sell those guns to general public through public auction or simply distribute among themselves through 'auction-like-ceremony' on nominal price?
Do we, the " not so well-connected persons" have any chance to participate in such auctions, if any, and be lucky enough to acquire on of those jewels?
Kindly share your knowledge in this regard.
Thanks,
Abbas

Most customs confiscated goods are "auctioned" internally. Leftovers (cheap perfumes and watches) are auctioned to the so-called "customs notified shops". No reason to think AGs should be treated any different. Only difference would be that the leftovers would probably rust, as they will not be allowed to be sold to the aam janata!

Find a kind-hearted customs / police officer, the more senior the better!!! One of my friends got a Harman-Kardon music system in 1995/96 for 2000 INR (and no, I didn't forget a zero), via a cousin-in-law in Customs.

Best of luck!!
