Easy and simple way to load a break barrel.
1.Break open the breach.
2.Load the pellet.
3.Hold the barrel nearest to the muzzle.
4.Cock the rifle.
5.Close the breach quickly after cocking.
(N.B-keep holding the barrel from step 3 untill step 5 is done)
Advantages:-
##At no instant your fingers will be on the line.
##The main spring will spend lesser time in a cocked position.
##Increased no. of shots in a given time.
Regards and happy shooting.

Thanks fpsrussia.
Very useful piece of advice. Since childhood, I used to first cock the rifle, then load the pellet and after that close the breach.
But you are right. If we follow your sequence, the main spring would be kept loaded for lesser time, thus increasing the life of the main spring. ***( here, I wanted to insert "Very Happy" smiley but since I do not know how to insert it , kindly assume that there is the said smiley in place of stars.

20 years with air guns and wonder how this never crossed my mind. used to the tradional method with all the safety precautions.
just one question;
on the older airguns i have, when you ' slapede down on the barrel", there was always some play, giving one easy access to load the pellet. and then cock the gun as you suggest.
i have noticed the newer high powered rifles do not have any play when the barrel is "slaped down". would it be possible to insert the pellet , given the limited space?? dont have the gun with me right now to check.
anyways ...good thinking.

Each airgun I have seen so far had space to load the pellet.Yes!the air rifles with two piece cocking link have lesser free play, like modern rifles have but that will be enough I guess.....
Cheers to Abbas and Ckkalyan..

I could be wrong, correct me if I am. But I was wondering whether it really matters to load the pellet before or after cocking, because when you cock then gun, the spring is anyways in cocked position till a shot is taken isn't it?

Dear Aravind!Obviously the spring remains in cocked position untill you take your shot...But its a lot easier, safer and bit faster way to load pellet before cocking the rifle. Also you will never have to worry about you fingers at any stage.

I tried your method today and it was much more faster and comfortable as you quoted. Thank you for your suggestion
