Dear all,
Please suggest me tips on judging POI shooting ihp 35 .22 !
It becomes tough for me when i shoot at a target at 100 feet with my airgun with Marksman shot pointed singe head pellets...should i adjust the front sight or aim little higher without changing the angle of the barrel .??????????????????????



how much drop i must assume at 100 feet of a Marksmen shot .22 pellets????????????


all shots i practised are in no wind condition...

will go on wind adjustments after learning about the drop .....can anybody help me ?????

try adjust the sights, the front goes up or down, if the pellets tend to drop down move the front sight up and if the shot goes left or right adjust the rear left to right etc

unable to say how much drop you have to assume - that should be by experiences.

try other pellets to see if that shoots better with the airrifle.

each rifle is different and one can not give the POI that you will have to judge for yourself.

checkout the zero in to see the POI

hoping your rifle is in good condition,try using g.smith pellets or some good ones.
also use target sheets to give you a clear picture.

First of all, are your shots grouping - ie
if you fire 3- 5 or more shots at a particular point of aim are all the pellets (irrespective of where they hit) in the same place (in a 'group') or are they flying all over the place.
if that is not happening then you need to change the brand of pellets.
Try at 10 yards or so first.
once that is achieved then you can move onto 30 yards or so.

Hi Lakecity,

To begin with what is type of gun are you shooting with – Air Rifle or Firearm? If it’s an Air Rifle consider the following:

1.Always shoot from a bench rest or sand bags – this will steady your gun & give you a better judgment of its accuracy.
2.Stick to one brand & pellet weight to test your gun – 14gr Master-shot Round Heads are ideal.
3.Set your target (preferably ISSF or similar, you can get these at any gun shop) at 30ft.
4.Shoot 10 pellets & see the POI.
5.If the POI is high / low, left / right then you need to adjust the Rear Sight (most guns have their front sights fixed) to correct it. Adjust elevation for high / low POI & adjust windage for left / right POI.
6.Now having zeroed your gun at 30ft, try shooting at 50ft & 75ft. Observe the POI, this will give you an idea as to how high or low you’ve to hold while shooting targets at these distances.
7.However if your target distances keep varying then ‘Zero’ your gun to 45ft and study the POI at 30ft & 75ft. This will enable you to know how much to hold high or low to hit the target at varying distances.
8.This of course will not apply if you keep using different pellet weights or for that matter the same pellet weight, but of different configurations Eg. Round Heads / Wad Cutters / Hollow Points / Pointed Heads as POI will differ with each of these!
9.For your information…
•Master Shot pellets weighs 14gr on an average
•Magna Shot pellets weigh 16gr on an average
•G Smith pellets weigh 18.5gr on an average
(These figures are accurate as I’ve had them weighed on an electronic balance)

Remember each Air Gun is an individual by itself – no two air guns even if they are manufactured in the same batch will perform similarly.
Try your gun with a variety of brands & pellet weights & you’ll discover that your gun will shoot smoothly & accurately with only one brand & one weight – Stick to it!
Knowing your gun is very important for you to have a continued & pleasurable shooting experience.

@all is it possible to know the exact muzzle velocity of air guns ? i dont think in udaipur there's a single gunsmith with such tools.!
