All gurus pls help,
is it possible/advisable to fix peep sight on diana 54 , which can be used in competitions. as open sight AR competition r not conducted now, I want to participate in peep sight till rifle is endorsed on my existing license and later shift to big bore events. I do not want to invest on match grade peep sight AR.
If peep sight can be fixed on diana 54 from where to get one and where to get it fixed. Also is it mandatory to wear shooting jacket and trousers if one is participating peep sight AR competition. is Daisey Avanti 753 any good for competitions as it comes with peep sight.
Waiting for ur valuable suggestions.
Regards,
Kuwar.

You can fix a peep sight on the D54. But will not be allowed to participate with a D54 because it will damage the targets and there is a big risk of pellet ricochet at 10mtr
Shooting jacket and trouser I believe are now compulsory. In any case you will be at a disadvantage if you don't wear jacket and trouser as you will not score well at all.
A Daisy 753 might be allowed in the National Rules Category but probably not in the ISSF category.
The trouble is nobody will be able to give you accurate info on the usage of the 753. I personally do not see what the big fuss is about as all beginners shoot in competitions with the 753/853/953 in the US of A.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Thank u very much M. any idea from where I can get Peep sight and get it fixed on D54. Is D54 discouraged in competitive shooting due to its velocity. I wish to compete in matches held at MRA and there we still use paper targets so there wont be chances of damage to target but I'll definetly check with the MRA.

Hi Kuwar,
You can use your D54 for the competition but due to its weight you won't be able to score good but still you have to wear jacket, trouser and shoes in competition. The state people may give you some relaxation but not in GVM and national. Also do check when your practicing whether it is tearing the target or not. Which peep sight you want I may help you regarding this. Happy shooting.

Kuwar, you obviously realise that your peep sight will work best with a globe front sight. do you own one on your diana already, else you'll have to source one. my best bet would be the Weirauch globes, since they are cheap and come with interchangable inserts. Not exactly match quality, but will do
The second issue is recoil. Isn't the Diana 54 spring piston? You might have problems keeping your peep sight in place unless you use retainers. Of course, the 54 will have issues in accuracy. Shooting a spring gun is a whole different ball game compared to an indoor match grade PCP.
As Saur rightly says, do it for fun, and if you simply want to participate. Don't expect great scores. On the same note, if you are unwilling to spend money on a match rifle, why bother with the monkey suit at all. It doesn't come cheap.
If you really want a jack of all trades, you could get an adjustable powered PCP. I use my Steyr for indoor 10 m target practise with a (second hand) set of Anshtuz sights, then crank up it's power and fix a scope for long range shooting. I have no intention of competing, but manage to sate both target shooting and FT/HFT desires with the same gun.
As for Peep sight, I have spare one lying around, in Delhi. But I'm not home at present
