Hi to all, I just bought an airgun (rifle), Model 95 manufactured by U.T.A. Kolkata. The place I bought it from knew nothing about the gun. Can someone please give me info on the effective range of the airgun (Mod 95), and is there some specific number/size pellet which is best for the said gun?
I'd be grateful if anyone could answer. Thanx.

First you would have to define what you mean by "effective range".

tashibashi,
its dangerous for you to handle the airrifle if you lack an idea about it.kindly ask someone living closer to guide you. or read about airrifle, calibre, safety and etc on internet and follow the instruction given in the manual with your air rifle.hope you do it safely.

Ok lets forget effective range, can any one tell me the range of the UTA Model 95 airgun? And to you doc, there's no one closer to guide me plus i did not get any manual with my airgun. As far as the gun being dangerous is concerned don't worry doc I've always been a cautious kind of person and i promise, with the gun in my hands, I'll be extra cautious.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

you can test the power of your gun, with different pellets, yourself.
take chilled block of clay which used by kids and shoot it let say from 5 meters, then you can make a cut and see how pellet travel inside of that block of clay, then next shot at 10m and finally if you can hit it in 50m --- you got very good rifle at trow away price.

Hi,
I have a UTA Air rifle (.177), I got it sometime in 2006. Model is 2.77. It still in reasonably good condition and this particular one has a good range of 20 m. (still has). I feel UTA is a pretty good bargain for this price. I had got it for 1800 in 2006. Cheers

hi!Tashibasi,
I bought a Mod-95 somewhere around for Rs.2500-00 at Visakhapatnam in 2004. I too don't know about effective range and all. But i've given this incidence so that it might be of some help to you. Use your gun safely and see that there are no humans or pets in your range. Wear glasses while shooting and make others also were because the pellet may sometimes bounce back into eyes. Excuse me for any ignorance in this subject. Best regards.

Mr.Tashibashi
If you mean effective range to shoot a game/bird,(although now it is banned in india to shoot birds) then it depends on what bird it is. If it is dove it can be brought down from 100 to150 feet depending on your accuracy and where the bird is hit.
To bring down rodents like big rats/bandicoots you need to be atleast 50 ft. again depending on the size of the rodent and accuracy. Hope this helps you. Just keep the good going.
