Dear Friends,
Can you please point out some differences between Diana Springers and Indian Springers like IHP or others. What makes Diana so costly?
Regards
Suraj.

Suraj,
If you notice, most Indian springers have a nomenclature as XXX35 or XXX25. This basically denotes them being adapted from the Diana designs. Now as far as actual workmanship is concerned, there is a world of a difference. The Dianas are better built because the Germans believe in engineering the best in whatever they do, while our own manufacturers take it with a 'chalta hai' attitude. Pricing and availability is also an issue. In fact they ought to take a leaf from Toyota's marketing handbook......make simple things, made them solid and reliable and make them dear. Then control the prices. I'm sure if IHP improved their metallurgy, their woodwork and finish and brought them on par with stuff made outside of India, we'd gladly pay 8k than the 4k we pay for a 35 today.
As far as cost is concerned, it's a question of economics. Less supply but greater demand equals higher prices. If the govt. were to open up imports for all airguns, the prices for all these would be at par with them abroad.

You can't compare Mule v/s Stallion
reasons for higher cost
Cost of technology
Cost of Material & machinery used
Higher Labor Cost in Mfg. countries
Currency Exchange rate and duty structure of India
Corruption charges ( finally have to be born by end user )
Demand v/s supply rule of economics
We have too many idiots with lot of money to spend ( pay prices demanded by traders)
Die Hard desire of perfection ( so they have to pay higher asking prices)
List continues.......
Above all are the major factors for higher cost of Foreign Air weapons
Hope I have satisfy you with the quarry
regards
pritam

Add to that:
Indian manufacturers being just plain too lazy to make comparable ARs.
