Savage air guns are made in Kolkata, and the brand Savage was adopted by a gun dealer based in Lucknow.
These air guns in quality are as good as any other brand from Kolkata. Its no where in quality to IHP air guns.

Not sure what you're getting at, but in my part of the world a .17HMR is a rimfire cartridge, not an airgun calibre
Years ago (15+), one of my childhood friends got a "Savage" airgun for his birthday. His grandfather , who presented it to him, claimed it was an import. However, I must confess I never took it seriously, since most of what the old man spoke was a lot of bull anyway. The airgun, as I later discovered, was bought from Lajpat Nagar. It might have been the Calcutta variety. The build quality wasn't exactly much to write home about, and the gun fell apart by the time we entered college. My own IHP, on the other hand, (and my uncle's, bought the same time as the savage) are still going strong.
Though I'm not sure if the going strong bit is because both of us, having paid out our own pockets, looked after our airguns better?

The "Savage" air rifle in question is just another cheesy springer that's been floating around for some years... my friends shop keeps getting equally cheesy brochures depicting cheesy male and female models in some ridiculous get up. If I recall... the company is Kolkata based...
Usual awful Indian standards apply... not to mention a potential for litigation for using the Savage trade name.
regards,
cc

Have you even bothered to read what CC and I have written? If you have, which part of our prose is incomprehensible?

dear ppl...
I have a few of savage springers..m65 and mod 150..sincerly no indian air gun is good u gotta make it good....at first it couldnt take out a pellet out of the barrel..but after tuning it i have got uncountable farm rats..nd other pests, savage is a company from barilley in U.P and it manufactures guns and pellets and is extremely accurate after being tuned trust me the power is great but i wouldnt say the same about qualitu because it fell apart after four years(mostly my fault i had been a juvie in this matters) but after seven years of shooting i can absoloutely gurantee its performance.....so it dsnt matter if you buy savage or ihp it matters if you are gonna put your time into it..
