PCP has just arived in GUn Shops here. The compression means being sold with it is good old Bicycle pump, a very tedious process.

However the Bushranger Max Air compressor we use to inflate our tyres after desert trips should do yeoman service on pcp air rifles as well.

It delivers 70 litres of air per minute. In 30 minutes it will fill a 2 litre air tank to 140 Bar and it 45 minutes to 210 Bar.

Price from Ace Hardware is Dhs. 499 but this will be cheaper on Web shopiing.

In our case it inflates a 275/70/R 16 tyre from 12 psi to 30 psi in 90 seconds flat.

Dear shahid, I visited Bushranger web site. They mention Maximum Working Pressure: 150 PSI for the model you mentioned. I do not understand how this same pump can give 2500+ PSI? Please explain.

If used for 45 minutes, which is the max running time. If this cannot deliver more Air beyond 150 psi then it will not completely charge a pcp gun tank.

For my application I need nothing more than 30 psi.

However guys in Australia and other places store compressed air from Bushranger units in tanks ( seperate attachment ) and drie their power tools with it.

Check for a higher model called Super Max, this is rated higher and can pump more.

I think the thread was for using a pump to charge a pcp weapon & I do not know any weapon operating at 30 PSI pressure. Please do not feel offended but I think the info provided in your earlier posts seems to be mis-leading. Because as you say this pump will keep pumpnig air for 45 minuts & one should store the same in larger tank but storing it in any size of tank is not going to increase pressure. To effect this one should have high pressure pumps like Bauer etc. I had enquired few days ago with Bauer people & they said a pump with 4500 PSI output would cost 2500 euro plus taxes.

Thats a professinal compressor.

My logic is simply that since Gun shops and web sites in the UK are peddling foot pumps to charge Pcp atiguns, Bushranger which can deliver 70 lites of Air in a minute, will wasily charge a 2 litre tank to 35 bar in a minute.

About 10 minutes of puming should get it to 210 bar pressure.

I am not aware that a Bushranger pump cannot pump air beyond 150 psi. 150 psi is a pressure of how many bars ?

I bar of pressure is 76 mm of Hg at seal level.

In termos of psi ( ft/sq. inch ) or Kg / sq. m or Pascals it may be different.

30 psi is about 2 Kg/sq. in or 190 Pa

Need to check the website and also determine the psi equivalent of a Bar of pressure.

A Bushranger can deliver those 210 x 2 = 420 litres of air in 8 / 9 minutes flat but whether it can transfer the air to this pressure remains to be checked.

Dear, It is very simple 100cc bike kept running for ten hours is not going to pull 20 ton truck. The pump mentioned in your post is meant for inflating tyres. PCP guns are different ball game. They need pressurised & dry air in excess of 2000psi to be able to operate their precision valves flawlessly. To achive this we need to have special pumps such as mentioned by me & also note that the hand pumps being sold in UK & other places alongwith PCP weapons are very fine piece of workmanship & not just good old bycycle pumps.
Please do not spread wrong information among fellow forumers.
