Hi everyone,
This is my first post
My friend bought an airgun (.22) recently from a local vendor in meghalaya. the thing about the airgun is that it looks and feels exactly like an IHP Model 35 airgun but for three differences.
1. It has a scope mount (no scopes included).
2. The locking mechanism (the thingy that keeps the barrel locked in place after you break and close it) is a spring mounted bearing.
3. The rifle has the name NEW DIANA MODEL 35 stamped on it, no mention of IHP or National.
Other than these three differences i cannot find anything to differentiate it from an IHP .22 Model 35. It is exactly similar including the sights. It does not look like it has been modified by anyone. I used to own two IHP airguns about ten years back and they did not have the features mentioned above. The bearing mechanism does make it smoother to lock the barrel in place and the scope mount is a welcomed change. He got it for about the same price as an IHP. But the name NEW DIANA is kinda bothering me a bit.
The performance of the rifle is pretty good at about 10 metres but beyond that it is hard to hit a target the size of a ciggie packet. Maybe its because we used some pellets which are not really up to the mark.
Has IHP made the changes i have mentioned above to their rifles or has my friend been duped into buying a copy??? (a really good one at that!!!)
Please let me know what you think. I can post pictures later if needed.
Thanks!

Re: Diana IHP???
Based on what you write, it seems
i. No, the air rifle is not IHP. You mention the abscence of IHP markings on the gun. ergo....
ii. New Diana seems an Indian manufacturer.
iii. A far as duping goes, did the dealer sell this as an IHP? If so, you have been duped, though it falls to reason why you did not check the name on the gun. If he sold it as it is, then your friend bought it reading the New Diana label. The question of cheating does not arise.

Hi hillsman,
New Diana model 35 is an Indian Made Air Rifle. In Tamilnadu we get this from a couple of dealers at Coimbatore. They accept that it is the replica od Diana Air Rifle and the cost is Rs 3500 approx. One of the dealer told me that he can able to replace the spring with the original Diana one for an additional cost of Rs 1000 to improve the performance.
Regards
Thomas
