See this article:

I was reading through it and I just about laughed my ass off. It's written in a very serious tone, showing the guy all dressed up like some scary terrorist; the article goes on to say that the airsoft pellets have been declared a "potential hazard" by "experts" (cough) and that gangsters are buying up the guns by the dozen. Yup - we now have "gangsters" armed with airsoft guns.

Somewhere Al Capone is turning over in his grave and laughing at us.

I am truly bewildered by the stupidity of this correspondent; Just look at the sheer ignorance and falsehood he shamelessly propagates as cardinal truths.
The AK-47 version can fire up to 350 rubber bullets in one round.
Which weapon in the fishing blazes can fire 350 bullets in one round.
The only difference between the original AK47 and toy replicas is in their weight and muzzle velocity. While the original AK47's weight is 4.3 kg, the replica's weight is just 2.78 kg. The muzzle velocity for the two is 715mtrs/sec and 110mtrs/sec respectively. In single trigger press a replica of AK47 fires 300-350 rounds. Other specifications such as length, rate of firing, effective range etc are the same for both.
Only difference, Effective range
This guy is comparing a bb/airsoft gun with a firearm. I think we need to reach out and help him see the light or check to see what he is smoking.

worst i read was the one on force one's weapons were the m4 was called obsolete

Unwelcome competition
Indian toy manufacturers are certainly not amused.
Girish Sharma, President of All India air gun and air pistol manufacturers and dealers, said, "The manufacturing of any non-civil weapon like AK 47 and R85 is restricted, according to the law
. However all these Chinese What the law says
According to Arms Act 1959, only such kind of air guns, air rifles and air pistols can be sold openly which satisfy that the projectiles discharged from such guns or pistols do not perforate a target 12 inches square, formed by deal-wood boards of even grains, free from knots planned on both sides and of thickness of half inch and one inch for air pistols and air guns/ rifles respectively.

products are smuggled into India and the authorities are clueless. The license fee for manufacturing such toys is hefty. As a result our manufacturers are unable to compete. This is denting the Indian toy industry comprehensively."
Girish Sharma seems to have provided some absolutely foot in mouth comments to the reporter. Is this the same Girish Sharma of gsr991 fame? , no pun intended but Mr. Girish you ought to re-consider the comment you hae given, and if your words have been twisted here, you ought to send your protest and have the reference taken off!!

The article sends wrong signals, how many who read this will realise that an airgun manufacturer cannot manufacture any arm... whether non-civil or civil, if ever there is a classification of that sort, except for in the reporters fantasies. wrong news in media seems to be forgiven so easily!!! even by the knowledgable! which is unforgivable!

We can laugh off this, or record our protest on this column fillers!!

Unfortunately I cant!, as I dont have NRAI membership!

You can only import airguns or even airsoft guns if you have a NRAI membership!

I really wanted a few airsoft guns to add to my collection, but its kinda impossible right now! :(

SO in short airsoft guns are legal in india according to the law because they donot conform to the rule given below

"According to Arms Act 1959, only such kind of air guns, air rifles and air pistols can be sold openly which satisfy that the projectiles discharged from such guns or pistols do not perforate a target 12 inches square, formed by deal-wood boards of even grains, free from knots planned on both sides and of thickness of half inch and one inch for air pistols and air guns/ rifles respectively.

but for owning an airsoft gun projecting plastic bbs u need to have a National Rifle Association india membership.

Lol is this a joke
