Hi ALL- I wrote to Mr Bhatia at Uttam Air and got this very encouraging response- they have in stock 4500psi rated cylinders and I would request all PCP owners in and around Delhi to get in touch-

Thanks for the effort. can you please clarify if this medical grade air is the one used for pneumatic instruments, or anaesthetics?
Catch is, PCPs need SCUBA level air, which would be close to the latter. However, I'm not sure if we're using air in anaesthetics in Delhi. Certainly not when I was there in the government sector.
The former air is high pressure air used to power drills, saws, suction apparatus &c in hospitals. I wouldn't recommend using it to fill PCPs.

I guess it is medical grade air and not plain compressed air -will get their specs when I speak to Uttam soon......
Specification of medical air
Medical grade air should be free from toxic products, flammable or toxic vapours, and odours at all points in the pipeline system. Although it is not sterile medical grade air is clean and at STP(standard temperature and pressure) should not contain more than:
0.5mg of particulate oil mist /cubic metre of air
5.5mg of carbon monoxide/ cubic metre of air
900 mg carbon dioxide/ cubic metre of air
no moisture
no bacterial contamination

"medical" grade air encompasses both breathable air for patients and non breathable air for use in suction/ precision drills. both purer than the usual air, one more so. what we're after is air clean enough to fill a scuba tank and breathe through. since gases are not a culture medium, sterility is not usually an issue

I am a bit confused.
If it is to be used in a PCP what difference does it make if it is medical grade or just plain compressed air.I am sure even medical grade air can be used in a PCP.After all it is the pressure that is going to drive the pellet.

Those who have 200bar- 300 bar tank or more if you want to fill the high pressure air for your tank try the justdial.com for " zero air suppliers" they will able to fill your tank from 200bar to 450 bar depending on their plant capacity .
i fill zero air in my tank to use in my pcp and works great. dont get confused about the technical names ..... just ask for zero air of 200bar or 300bar as per your hydro tested / working pressure capacity of tank .

Striker- ZERO AIR is what they call medical grade over here-now what we are looking for is-
1) MOISTURE FREE
2) OIL FREE
3) DUST FREE
IF THE GUY CAN GIVE ME THIS I AM HAPPY AND SO IS MY PCP-!!!
I have used zero air- upto 150 bar from the regular plant topped up with the small Bauer to 200 bar at Uttams- moisture free will mean 98% free not 100% and that is the most important thing for a PCP- including oil mist free.

bigdaddy and wtp, industrial grade air, with it's moisture/oildust levels can damage pcp innards (seals/valves &c), which can lead to loss of accuracy and expensive repairs. hence our quest.
I am personally quite happy to know we have a potential supplier in Delhi to charge PCPs. It's just my cautious nature that would like to enquire further. Better to ask now and appear an idiot, than corrode a costly valve and appear a fool

whats the cost involved for these air cylinders.also will they be able to fill any PCP like say a Marauder i am importing shortly.also can anyone suggest any good quality PCP pump(hand operated) with cost etc.
