My New Beeman P 17

Post by rishudhawan » Sun Aug 22, 2010 10:17 am

Hi Guys,

Decided to get some guns :). 11th Aug placed an order for a Beeman P17 at Pyramid air, the gun reached Delhi on the 13th. AS it was a week end got custom cleared on the 16th, and was sent by road as the airlines refused to carry it. Finally arrived in my hands last noon.

FedEx handled all the customs clearance.

This is a full polycarbonate frame single shot overlever phneumatic. Rated at 410fps.

Have put about 100 shots thru it since last night and feedback is as below

1. Very good trigger, currently set at about 1.5 pounds and is adjustable.
2. Extremely accurate, i was constantly hitting within a 3-4 inch target over 20 m away with open sights. Still need to fine-tune the sights
3. Open sights with wind age and elevation adjustments.
4. This is a large pistol and i have large hands so fits well.
5. Good finish quality, and a rifled barrel.
6. Auto safety when you pump the gun.
7. The over lever takes a bit getting used to as teh force required to pump is high-- about 20 pounds.

Over all i am very pleased with the gun. My next gun in about a month will be either the phneuma or the discovery with pump kit.

Ill post pictures later today.

Thanks, Suraj and Vassili. No import liscence required. It is a .177 so free from duty and free to import to members of clubs.

Cost about 6000 landed.

Just finished stripping the gun down and changing the OEM lube. The best part of this gun is that if you are a bit DIY, this will last fore ever ,only things you may have to change every year or so are three o rings, easily available for about 10-15 rs each.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
