I searched a lot to give a self service for my .177 cal air rifle. but not enough to get the desired results.

Hence i am posting this in order to get some link or even instructions to service my rifle on my own(i am good at repairing things) so i could try my hands on my rifle too.

I use this series as my basic textbook. Its written by one of the best in the business.

Most importantly, Use a spring compressor. Its a mandatory item NOT an optional item.

Just to know . Does the Indian made air rifles /pistols come with a safety lock. I used to have a GNW 35 without a safety lock .

What are the things you want to know ? Let me know and I can help wherever possible. As for the parts of your air rifle this is how it looks when taken apart completely. This one is not an IHP35 but its close, very close.

The FIRST safety lock in an airgun is your gun training and self discipline

SECOND is an absolute and thorough UNDERSTANDING AND MEMORIZING of gun safety rules

THIRD safety lock is your trigger finger which should never be on the trigger until gun is pointed on the target and you are ready to take the shot.

ISSF match airguns guns do not have a safety even then an accidental fire is almost unheard of.

Thanks for ur reply and that pic.

If u dont mind i will elaborate my present condition.

In NCC-B-cert u will be allowed to dismantle and mantle the SLR rifle.(its a test actually) but before u will be dismantling u will be shown by an officer on the parts of the SLR and how it should be dismantled from part A to part Z. and it should be mantled from part Z to part A.(u know what i mean)(i could remember vaguely first i should dismantle the magazine and at at last the barrel, and when u are mantling the same the barrel will be fixed first and magazine will be the last)

Now my real problem occurs i know that an SLR will not be as same as an Air rifle. But i think the dismantling should be done from Part A to part Z.(i dont know which should be done first and which last).

If u could help me on this i will be great full.

Here you go...

Image

1. Remove front sight (A)
2. Remove rear sight (B)
3. Remove rifle fore end stock screws (C and D)
4. Remove rear stock screw (E) which is in front of the trigger guard
5. Separate the wooden stock from the action now
6. Remove plastic/metal shroud (F)
7. Set up what is remaining on a spring compressor
8. Remove trigger pin (G), this is the first pin
9. Remove trigger blade (H) and trigger spring (I)
10. Remove mainspring retaining pin (J)
11. Remove end cap (K) after decompressing
12. Remove spring guide (L)
13. Remove main spring (M)
14. Remove barrel pivot bolt (N) and small lock screw
15. Remove barrel assembly (O)
16. Remove piston (P)
17. Remove piston seal (Q)

take care, there will be pre load on the spring...spring compressor is a must...

Kartik

Jeetesh has already put the details. Dismantling a spring rifle is quite different from stripping an SLR so please do not compare the two.

A spring compressor is a tool you use for safely removing the main spring from a spring rifle such as yours. Here is a video on how to make one yourself.

http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&source ... eWC0HHguqw

This is not a readymade tool that can be bought off the shelf in our country. A carpenters vice or door vice can be used as a substitute for the purpose of removing the spring.
