Competition grade air pistols

Hi, I have enjoyed going through various topics in the forum. I did some shooting from rented weapons at karni Singh and some trap & skeet in US.

Now I am planning to buy a competition air pistol and am looking at the below options :

a. Walther LP300 Club right M-grip
b. Hammerli AP40 Balance right M-grip
c. Walther LP300XT right M-grip

I would like to know if any of the experienced shooters have expereince with any of them and have any opinions or preferences to offer.

Hi.
I wouldn't suggest that you start your shooting with any of these weapons. In my opinion you should go in for a Morini 162El or a Styer LP10. These are curently the most preferred and the best pistols in the world.

LP10 with electronic trigger will cost $1000 more then Morini 162E and I doubt it is much better gun. Another advantage with 162E is that you can select perfectly fit to your hand grip.

one more plus for 162E is that you can buy it without grip and order Vitarbo Custom Grips

The fact that you can buy it without a grip is an essential plus
the morini grip once fitted is not adjustable at all and you cant do much carpentry with it as the electronics are in the grip itself

The lp10 and the walther grips are totally adjustable for cant rake and side to side angle so are pardini

I would definitely rate the walther above the morini if you are not going to get a custom grip


The Morini is being promoted because of Beijing and nothing else except for the large stock

if finances are a constraint then the steyr lp2 is also good

There are lots of air pistols out there each have their own pros and cons. lp10 and morinis are superb but there are also others around like benneli , pardini, fwb, tesro,Fas,anchutz lp@,matchguns the thing is to do some research on the net and buy you think which is best for you all are world class air pistols capable of winning matches, it just comes down to the shooter who uses it , it is not the weapon but your dedication ,concentration and technique which will win you matches and give you good scores. Both the hammerli and walther are good , used them both hammerli is lighter than the walther but not well balanced, the walther has quality and good balance but there are trigger issues, the trigger adjustments dont hold very well but overall better than the hammerli.

new WALTHER LP 400 looks very good, new trigger, carbon fiber jacket on barrel new valve, shorter pellet release time, compact version 850g only. can be great pistol for female shooters and juniors.

annie123, in the book Ways of Rifle you can find some very good workouts for rifle shooters and for pistol as well.
imo, best what you can do to improve your shooting in quite short time is to use Scatt.

The IZH 46M would be a great starter pistol. You will not go wrong with it. If you are looking for something in the higher price bracket, then the Steyrs and Pardinis would be ideal. Steyr has come out with compact versions of their airpistols. Have a look at them too.
