Hi guys!

For quite sometime i've been contemplating buying an imported air rifle.. I did loads of research.. Enquired about so many rifles available on this forum.. Most of the people advised me to opt for a springer but the lure of a PCP is unending... i'm really confused and still undecided which one to opt for..

Its kind of a catch 22 situation.. Quite like which is a better cal .177 or .22.. A springer has its own charm and all we need is a "Dibba" of pellets and we can go shooting all day long.. Where as a PCP has its own set of accessories we need to lug around.. But still has its own advantages Mainly accuracy and ease of use..
This topic has already been discussed in so many forums and I thought this topic should be discused in our good 'ol IFG as well..

Let the debate begin!!

What do you want to use your air gun for?
Do you have sources of clean air for charging readily available?
What servicing/support facilities exist around you?

In the Indian context, a choice between the two depends on the answers to the questions above

Entirely my view: Springer any day for me. Less complicated than a pcp. Easier to find spares. You can find people to service them if need be. Springers come with open sights not so in the case of pcps except for Discovery. Lots of after market tuning kits are available for springers. I personally find that a springer tests a shooter's ability more than a pcp.

in my view springer is better for a beginner to learn skills and have fun...first go for springer and next for the high end models.

I have both of these ,

The springer is the one which I used for a very long time.
Recently I have been using a PCP ( a Marauder ). Since the PCP is new I have been using it very frequently.

Well there are many positive points put up by Prabhath, these are the differences I or generally any one can feel from a PCP compared to a Springer.

* Has no recoil at all.
* Generally marauder is less in weight compared to the HW I got. And I think comparatively any entry level PCP is much less in weight.
* Having no recoil "you are confident" that you can shoot it the way way you want it to be.
* The capability of having multi-shot.
* More PCPs coming out now with the shrouded and chocked barrel, this make shooting very quiet and accurate.
* Generally tune up kits are also available for PCP's.

The above points does not make out that am not into a springer anymore. I still use my springer since it does not run out of fuel.

The above are the differences that is obvious to me when using a PCP.
