Rajiv,

Read today's Mumbai Mirror, page 8. You'll get to know the reason of restriction, and what people are doing with the blankers.

Thanks,
N.

My import experience was pretty smooth. Followed the procedure in "how to smoothly import .177cal air rifle - guidelines" http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7602

Ordered a Diana 34 T06 and a Crosman 1377 from Pyramyd Air in mid June. The Diana 34 T06 in .177 Cal was out of stock and PA said it was expected by around 4 July. Decided to order it anyway and wait. Small hitch in that International Credit Cards not accepted by PA. Was able to use Paypal and make payment.

Was pleasantly surprised to get a mail from PA which said that it had shipped both items on 28 Jun. Shipment reached Delhi on 30th Jun. Got a call from Fedex asking for the Docs. Sent them scans of the required docs along with signed scanned copy of authorization letter the same day via email. Customs cleared on 1 Jul. Ground shipping took a very long 9 days! Finally got the shipment on 9 Jul. No duty was assessed so didn't have to pay anything extra. Entire process with Fedex was smooth.

Hi ,

I am ordering a colt gun from Uncompany- http://www.uncompany.com/pageproductdet ... odid=24909

Its a full-metal spring bb gun. Even I wish to collect some classic model pistols and rifles. The shipper is sending it to me as a toy gun mentioned on the invoice and the package. As the value of the gun is too low- 18usd, I am dead sure it won't get detained for the duty issues. :) Lets see how it gets thru. USD 18 wont be a big thing to lose if it gets detained. And if gets detained, that wud be the most stupidest act. LOL

N.

Dear Mulki,

Congratulations!

What were the documents reqd by Fedex. While I know there are multiple threads asking the same question in different posts, let me ask a precise question which is "Did they ask you for a letter from your rifle association stating your name & membership number and purpose of import?"

Cheers,
Shadow

Hello Mulki,

FedEx does it through an official filing of Bill of Entry. Did you pay any clearance charges? I am asking because FedEx took 1700 bucks as a clearance fees from me.

Thanks,
N

They would have filed a Bill of Entry for me, but I was not charged anything by Fedex. Might depend on the type of shipping service used. Mine was shipped Fedex "Worldwide Express" which was slightly more expensive than the other option Fedex "Worldwide Expedited".

Hi Folks,
This is my recent experience importing a Airforce Edge from Pyramid Air.
I had to start my son on something at the 10meters range and after doing a bit of reading of B B Peltiers reviews, decided to order the Edge. This was after imports from pyramidair through FEDEX which handles it very efficiently.
Thinking that it would follow the same route , I was in for a surprise. ( call it a nightmare ).
As scheduled, it arrived in Delhi and I got a call from the clearing in charge at fedex that the customs are looking for stamp that said it was .177 caliber. They said that it would be detained as this was not to be found anywhere on the airrifle. I, in the meantime shot a few emails to pyramid air and Airforce asking them to clarify. Airforce got back saying it made this only in .177 caliber and no other size. It offered to clarify in any which way so as to clear with the customs. The only mention was in the instruction manual about the caliber but the customs would not buy it.
Vmanics came to my help and advised that a trip to Delhi with the right sized pellets in hand would do the job of convincing the caliber size. I got in touch with Jaikirit Bisth ( with fedex) who is a pistol shooter in Delhi and he offered to convince them about its caliber if I sent him a Vernier slide caliper which I did.
I thought my troubles were over with it and waited patiently for over a week. Nothing happened and the customs insisted about the marking on the rifle.

Here is my advice to those of you importing air pistols and rifles: check with the supplier among other things if the manufacturer has engraved/stamped/embossed .177/4.5 mm on the barrel or anywhere on the pistol/rifle.
It is not sufficient if the invoice/manual/packing/AWB said so.

My air rifle did reach me a month later after a friend helped, the details of which I am forbidden to reveal.
I have not seen on the thread here any such experiences by IFG members though Fedex in Delhi did mention that there were quite a few imports with such problems.

So, folks , do share your experience so others here can learn through your experience and avoid hassles.
A special mention about the team at FEDEX in Delhi who were with me all along helping in any which way they could.

Goodluck and regards......... Shankar

I had same problem with Delhi Fedex, but all went OK finally. I heard that Edge is not approved for some reason for ISSF competitions. Also triggers on Condor, Talon, Edge are very far from what called competition trigger.

Shankar,

Glad to hear that you could get the airgun cleared and also thankful that I did not have to go through this hassle..........My Air Arms TX 200 also does not have the caliber marked on it.

Firearm stocks aren't allowed but how will they know it is for an rifle. Barrel (if I understand your thinking) will definitely be seized. Don't try it unless you are willing to take a loss.

Hi guys,
I ordered airguns on 28th of July from Airgunstyle.com through USPS priority international. The airguns Include:
Pro77 CO2 pistol
CP99 Spring pistol
40 Cartridges of CO2
6,000 Metal BB's.

The cost has incurred $119 and Postal charges include $76.
The total cost in INR is 8,500.
1st of August, my package has left U.S.
I dont have any airRifle membership but i think it wont be necessary as i am shipping only pistols. It just takes a week to get a Membership so i m cool about it. Now the only thing remains is to wait for the parcel to arrive in mumbai and i really have no idea of Mumbai's Foreign Postal Customs...
Has anyone ordered an Airgun in mumbai through Posts??? I would really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions for this.
I wanna be prepared and try not to waste any time in getting my beauty thing.

Gentlemen,
Iam planning to buy for target shooting (Iam a member of rifle club)
1. Walther LG30 vision plus air rifle
2. Feinwerkbau P11 Piccolo air pistol (for my 12 year old son)
I made the above choices based on me being a novice and the rifle and pistol are lightweight and not too expensive.
Since this forum has a very experienced following, I need your expert advice on whether my decision is right on the models chosen
Also, I would like to know who is the best seller to buy from?. pyramydair, schiesssport-buinger.de or stopper.de(no reponse to my emails)
Any advice or suggestions in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
