This seems to be a new requirement. Any idea why they are asking this and how do we get this from the NRAI being state club members?

Hi Friends,

I live in Bangalore and am planning to order a CO2 Walther PPK from Air Gun Style USA. They ship it through USPS.

I spoke to one of their representatives and he assured me that they do ship to India and there have been no hassles so far since they declare these things as toys.

I have no rifle club membership either.

Could someone please let me know if this is fairly easy or are there complications involved.

I would be very grateful if a fellow Bangalorean can share some similiar experiences regards to getting CO2 shipped to this city.

Regards,
Tej

dear Tej,

Importing any air rifle/pistol so long as it is .177 caliber is allowed. If you do not have a club (KSRA) for Bangalore /Karnataka membership, you will be risking the import as it is mandatory.
Regarding USPS, you will have to do the postal customs clearance which envisages a inspection and report from the Commissioners' office that it is not a firearm and cannot be converted. Quite a process to go thru but can and has been done. Regards.......... Shankar.

:agree: Shankar's comments

If no membership please don't take a chance.

Its like creating tension for free and trust me running behind Customs and dancing to their tunes. Will make the entire import a irritating experience. (I have gone through it twice being a club member)

Tejthadani:

Thanks for writing.

The topic has expanded so much and try to read this particular post and you will be able to read through my earlier import experience. I don't want to duplicate by writing it all over again.

Dear all,
Any information on the airgun import scene after the Delhi HC verdict on licence for airguns?
I know that the amendment has to be made in the Act for the verdict to come into effect. But I only hope that the Customs shouldn't prematurely react to this and hold up fresh imports. Any inputs would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Ebenezer

Here is my experience pre delhi verdict.
I helped one of our club member to import .177 air rifle. No hassles except local ( club sec wanted to get greased for giving rifle club membership letter. Customs are better people i guess.
the item was Benjamin discovery .177. total of 8-9 pdf files including club membership letter were needed. Equipment came via fedex from Paramid ( who are fantastic if you don't include scope/pellets etc along the order!), BTW if you order rifle case then don't imagine your rifle packaged inside, they will come separate !! :) ) , though minor damage to one of items in order( shooting glasses and lost trigger lock), it came in with no other trouble. the same guy later imported cross man air pistol with similar doc with no hassles !!. The pistol is garb.. though :) . no duty however for it :).
Now I am not giving ideas , just sharing my exp.. for the said topic. The happened days just before delhi verdict. However I have no idea if I do the same with my order will be positive feeling...

Hi sysop,

Amazing stuff! Could you pls let me know which 8-9 pdf files are you talking about? Also, I'd appreciate if you could share with me that format of the club letter. I am planning to import CX4 storm .177 cal air rifle from pyramyd. My club secretary asked me to email him with the format of the letter. Could you help me with that?

Thanks,
N.

Silver - Just curious. How you planning to manage for 88Gms CO2 for the CX4?

Are they available in market?
