Speaking of HW90 (sorry bit OT) is it better than Dianas of its range (non magnum springers) or even magnums.

Just handled one thus far (curtsey Dev) - one cannot but notice the feeling of solid build quality. Diana's in comparison (only handled Diana models 25, 35 so far) seem like poor relatives... The trigger is classic HW - crisp and butter smooth (it has a Rekord trigger unit like other HWs), miles ahead of either the Diana 25 or 35. In fact the Diana 25 has a direct sear trigger like the Indian made IHP/ National rifles, so a comparison with that model would be unfair to say the least.

The above said, the HW90's cocking effort was brutal, and it definitely has a heavy recoil. Though the consensus seems to be that this can be smoothed out by varying the air pressure in the "gas ram" unit.

Considering that this is an expensive rifle, retailing for US$90 more than the lovely HW77 and even a shade more expensive than the classic (& powerful) HW80 - I'd personally give it a pass in favour of either of these two models...

Maybe more experienced members can provide better feedback and a more direct comparison with (comparable) Diana models...

HTH :)
Cheers!

The HW90 and 90k use the Elite trigger unit. The Rekord, if not mucked around with, is superior.

Rusty, thanks for correcting me there :) OT, but how different are the mechanisms of the two types - Rekord/ Elite?

Cheers!

Abhijeet,

I don't know the exact differences. You would need to see the exploded diagrams on the Chambers site to figure that out.

What I do know is that the Rekord is a pukka two stage trigger. The Elite isn't - atleast I have never come across one that felt like one.

Hey Mack The Knife San,

How would you rate the 90 compared to the 77 once it has been suitably tamed? On the whole it feels very stout and the blue ing is to die for. I wish that the owner would consider tuning it down.

Well
Dev, Abhijeet and gang

the cat is out of the bag finally,

I bought the HW90 of gasram, so he has to change his ID to PCP now I guess

Then I have put on a Walther 3-9x40 with red light reticle scope

and a Hawke (HM6144) one piece mount built in stopper.

every thing looks lovely.
As usual it has passed thro Rusty's hands and has been tamed, so I picked it up blindly.

So I need to know if that combo will work, from what I gather it should.

But let the masters speak

cheers
Lenny

will post pics soon

Hi Lenny,

Where did you gather that the combo (HW90 + Walther scope) will work?

Buying the Walther may well be a case of penny wise, pound foolish, though for your sake I hope it isn't.

Just for the record, that rifle passed through my hands four or five years back. Pressure was reduced to 18 or 18.5 ft.lbs. to shoot accurately with H&N FTT pellets and the stock was oil finished. Nothing more.

Here's hoping it gives you years of enjoyment.
