There are a few traders who would sell you .177 cal air rifles imported from US/EU but the premium charged is quite high.

No trader will supply it to you at anywhere close to the prices you have quoted. The usual premium seems to be a minimum of 100% but can go much higher. Best get yourself a rifle association/ shooting club membership and import one yourself. Fortune favours the bold...

How about using the search function here as well as going through the previous posts on this and other threads under the airgun section?

hi forum,
why is it that only .177 gun legal for import, does .22 and .177 make such a huge difference
or is it only because .177 is allowed in the shooting range.

well if it is imported in personal bagage , it does't have the caliber issue.
i personally recommend you to please go through all previous posts regarding imports which will be resolving all your questions.

Maddy: The Finance Minister, in his last budget, decided to waive duty on import of air rifles/pistols by members of gun clubs. This was done to encourage the shooting sports. The .177 caliber is the only internationally recognized sporting caliber for air rifle/pistol competitions - National/State/Olympic/ISSF. Hence, our mandarins issued a notification specifying .177

Hi all .... My first post ... I am in the US and may return after a year or so (or may be earlier

).... I am considering purchasing Airforce condor in 0.177" or Eun Jin sumatra 2500 (if 0.22")and bring it back to india.....do any of you feel that it could be a problem ? Sorry if you feel this is repeated , but somewhere in the forum i read that Airforce condor requires license ? This conflicts with free import of 0.177 caliber into india..... I am confused..... Any help would be appreciated .... Most of the members carrying 0.22" have had no issues..... Thanks in advance

As far as pellets are concerned few local brands will work well in a high velocity air rifle. Gsmith's round heads (can't remember what they are called) are heavy enough to stabilize in a condor/talon ss. I think gasramgandu might have one, try pming him. Most of us try to get imported pellets which suit our rifles. I for instance keep trying to bring in Crosman Premier's or arm twist Rusty(as if)
