Hi folks,

Sorry to dig this one from under the rack, but I need help. One of my friends has just brought back a Diana 350 Mag. in .22 caliber as baggage when he returned from one of his overseas trips and the same has been confiscated at the Customs in Bombay. They say that their notification says -.22 caliber is prohibited!!!!!!They have no problems if it was a .177 and he could walk out with the piece, but .22 is a no-no.They have even gone to the extent of telling him to get a re-export permit and take the Diana back with him on his next trip and bring a .177  He has asked to see their notifications book but was refused. He is planning to use the RTI act,but they could make things more difficult and he may loose the gun.Any advice or any link where it says that there is no restricition on .22 airguns being banned as import in check-in bags.

Apprec all your help and feedback.

hi Hunter

there is no ban on .22 air rifles. check out the coustams website. all one needs to is pay the duty of 35%? i think.

or go at different time when the man in white who said that is off duty, and find someone else. this may work.

all the best
Nagarifle

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

Tirths,

Don't throw your foot on the axe, so you mean to say all airguns imported before recent notifications came into country illegaly? Just because there is no documentation regarding import of .22 doesn't mean its banned or illegal.

I suggest people should avoid commenting on the matters where there is lack of clarity.

hi hunter please keep us posted on the .22 diana fate as i have plans to get in a .22 pcp through this mode. The news is quite discouraging- i thik the custom walaas are literally interpreting the dgft notification where there is no mention of a .22 airrifle .dont know whats the news at the other popular airports like delhi

Hi Inder,
You mean to say, you can pass customs with a .50 cal. airgun legally, since as other than .177 no other bore is mentioned?

In any case lets call for a poll. I don't know how to create one.

According to my understanding Yes until the said airgun doesn't fail the deal wood test.

There is no advantage of poll her because there is still no clear understanding on the matter so the poll results will also convey the same verdict "Confused" that is ...
