Hey Tenx,

Dunno bout what he's got in stock as we speak. He mentioned getting fresh supplies first week of November. He also said that the Gunmark rifles will be out by then.

But Pellets are in, some bows and a couple of scopes were mentioned to be in stock. Pellets are ~INR120/tin of 200. Bows no idea. Scope is as mentioned in the above post. Though he said 6k for the one piece mount to me.
You should, maybe, also consider the time for return of investment factor. .. If the demand is not all that 'sudden' one may have to block their cash reserves till the sale happens.
Very True. And thats whats happening too.
But, also, te lesser his margin, ht more the sales he can make, right ?
True. But only in a market where the target audience is more than here. Right now, its sold on a need basis. I dont think he moves more than maybe 5-10 rifles a year. And thats being optimistic.

If he gets that order in a month, then we can expect some changes. To see real differences, people'll have to wake up and realise how much fun air-rifles or pistols are.

Right now, dealers consider enquiries about imported air rifles/pistols as a quick one-time cash cow. Not as full time business. They cant too, judging by the fact that commercial import is banned.

Which is why people should stop complaining about dealers charging a premium. And see what can be done about legalising commercial imports.

So its pretty much a helpless situation! I guess.

Its actually a recurring and controlled Cash Cow for them.. and they probably prefer to let it retain this way.. why risk more sales when they make the same amount of profit selling a few pieces :)

Exactly. And the government is helping them.

Actually why is the commercial import banned? Any particular reason? Is it to promote nationalization?

And how can such a rule be changed? I mean whats the procedure?

As I see it... its simple... the cops have very limited sources of guns.. and are mostly good at controlling people with canes...
If guns were commercialized and everyone carried something worthwhile of assault, the cops would be beaten out of their wits...
If I were some neta and had two options:
1. Open importing of guns and ALSO ensure cops have enough and more of such arsenal to control a mob if required...
2. Ban imports thus limiting guns in the market, so that there is no urgent pressure on the govt to upgrade cops...

.. then I would choose the latter.

.. This may come down to the sub sections also... making air guns so much dearer...
:)

That actually makes sense. But airguns should be spared right?

I mean, in the right hands, anythings a weapon. Heck, the right hand is a weapon in itself! :-)

Hello karizman,
It seems you have had some bad experience with GSMITH & Co.
It will be a guide to all of us here if you could shed some light on What exactly happened?
May be someone else will be saved from any misguidance from Gsmith?
Thanks.
Regards.

Hello,
With ref. to Karizman
Although I think he is a professional businessman. He is reilable with orders and you will not have any problems purchasing from them if you want it at 54/60k. Everyone does business for money and that is what he does and I find nothing wrong with it.
But I will hold myself responsible, if I buy from them at this price.
There are other ways to get it, mentioned in this forum.

but I will narrate what happenned when I went to Gunmark with my Diana 54 Airking which I bought in imported in India via Mumbai as personal luggage.
Mr. Kulkarni claimed that it was fake, made in China, although I knew what he was saying was not correct in anyway, I did not say anything.
He claimed only he can provide the real original ones.
He keeps on claiming to be weapons advisor for many countries.
What advice he can give them if (apart from govt.) no gun mfgr./dealer is allowed to do business in India.
Babu

p.s. members of Pimpri-Chinchod-Nigdi (Pune) can we meet somewhere.

GSmith gets duty exemption every year, I can publish the document from customs if someone is interested.
Yet the price of the guns are so inflated,I wonder if somehow RIGHT kind of custom guy comes to know about their trade practice :-).
