Any one know, what is the guidance for customs to handle restricted items?

Much awaited CFX finally came to my hand!! However the pellets are confiscated. I will have to make a separate fight plan with customs to get them out.

All customs officer in all shift know me know me by my name and cheered for this success story. I thank them all.

I would suggest that you check with your airline about carrying an arigun before you buy anything. Get the required clearances. If you are flying Lufthansa chances are you won't get the clearances.
BTW Frankonia also has an export divison and they do ship to India. You may consider this option and get the airgun shipped to India. The cost should be the same as you won't have to pay the 16% tax for export and that should take care of the shipping. These days I am told there is no duty in India as well.
Get your rifle club membership in place before you do this.

Is it stated anywhere that a person who is not a member of a rifle assosiation can import of airguns by cabin baggage ....... any notification for the same?
I have seen the customs book( the big fat one, forget the name) at the postal customs dept...which states that members can import air guns in 0.177 cal ....but it does not mention the how..ie by post or by personal carry...

u have posted abt ur airgunrelease but it would be more helpful if u brief abt ur inference u got while proceeding to release the gun.wat is chennai custums rules they follow abt dgft .wat r the basic rules followed to cross the chennai custums to carry a airgun when bringing from abroad . Ur ideas can help people crossing through strict chennai airport custums
