Re: Which airgun should I buy?
Hello,
I am told that break barrel air gun has one problem that after few months of using, the barrel develops a bend and so it looses its accuracy.
So side lever loading or under leaver loading springters air guns are better.
Will some one please elaborate me on these issues. And then in this case which kind of gun is more affordable for plinking.
Again if break barrel guns have these problems, then is is worthless to invest Rs. 50 to 55 k in imported guns like diana , Weihrauch, etc
Please throw some light on these issues.
Thank you
Amol

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
Hi everyone
i need help in buying an air rifle which is powerful enough to injure or make a person run away (increasing incidents of burglary in the area is the main reason for asking for such a suggestion). Day before yesterday some 8 people burgled into two neihbour houses and when people and police tried to catch them, they started pelting stones at police/people. situation got so worst that the policemen had to fire in air. keeping the situation in mind, can anyone suggest me best air weapon i can get in indian market or i can import.
thanks and regards

You will make the situation even more worst if you fire someone with even an airgun.singhkuld wrote:Hi everyone

This is an old wives' tale, which crops up now and again. Pay no heed to it. If you ask the person how they know break barrels are inaccurate after years of use, they will probably blame a friend of a friend of a friend.amolpisal wrote: I am told that break barrel air gun has one problem that after few months of using, the barrel develops a bend and so it looses its accuracy.

Using air rifles to scare intruders is inadvisable. They will not be seriously injured and chances are will attack you with vengence. Please go through the self defence threads on practical matters related to the issue. If you are really serious, apply for a firearm license.singhkuld wrote:Hi everyone

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
with Hamclair, airguns are not for self defence. If Burglary is so much problem in your zone and the police officials are also being attacked (pelting stones) you have all the reasons required to apply for a arms liecence. The threat to life question puttin by the police can be answered with the practical problems faced by you, wherein the cops themselves were involved. As suggested by Hamclair if serious, go for Fire Arm.Hi everyone

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
I have ordered IHP .22 from Aimco.... i was split between .177 and .22..... actually i still am confused.... did i make the right choice by going for the .22......... i think we should buy both to relieve our mind from the anxiety of "which is a better choice" feeling....
My .22 is on its way from calcutta to chennai... i'm already contemplating buying a .177 cal Cannon LG 65...
WHAT SAY GUYS/?????

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
Listen the world won't come to a halt if you buy either caliber. there is nothing wrong with either. the .177 has a flatter trajectory than the .22. the .22 has more knock down power. both are fun , just grab tins of pellets and shoot away for the fun of it. why overthink the simple pleasures of life? just put some cans at various distances have a safe back stop and enjoy yourself. becoming a good marksman is a pleasure in itself.nash wrote:I have ordered IHP .22 from Aimco.... i was split between .177 and .22..... actually i still am confused.... did i make the right choice by going for the .22......... i think we should buy both to relieve our mind from the anxiety of "which is a better choice" feeling....

Dev
Read that you had bought a Baikal IZH 46M. Lots of people I spoke to locally say that gun is difficult to service.. and that the O-rings and seals give way quickly and spares are difficult/impossible to come by.
Can you share your views and experience with that gun?

Kb100,
Apologise for butting in. I know the question was for Dev but I too owned a 46M till recently and so trying to tell you a few things. It is one of the best starter airpistols for 10m target shooting. The build quality is excellent and comes with extra seals and washers. Requires very little maintainence and works well with a wide range of pellets. The 46M is also excellently priced. Only thing I did not like about it was the size and this was the reason for me to sell it.

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
Thank you Prabhath. I am truly confused between taking it a step at a time- or plunging whole hog (read LP10E) into it! Guess I need to give it a few more weeks - but with me time only tends to reinforce the desire!

Re: Which airgun should I buy?
Can understand the feeling . If I was to take a decision, I would stick to the LP10 and not the LP10E. The electronic trigger is kind of dicey for novices, I have read. All the best. Are you a member of KSRA?kb100 wrote:but with me time only tends to reinforce the desire!
