Hi Rup,

As far as I know, you don't need any letter from the rifle club on the import of any pistol or rifle. All you need is your rifle club membership ID card, copy of DGFT notification, and an authorisation letter to fedex that you authorise fedex to act as a clearing agent on your behalf. The clearing team will ask for the docs when your shipment arrives.

One more letter stating the rifle/pistol specs- and it MUST mention the calibre on it. And invoice from Pyramyd to support it.

I am planning to order a beretta px storm from pyramyd. I had wrote to Fedex abt the procedures, and below is their reply to me:

Also, I have made an RTI application to customs regarding import of airguns and pistols- and airsoft toys. I am yet to receive the doc. Can you please wait for a week, I will have the letter from customs soon. Then I will post it here. Its going to help everyone.

Cheers,
N

Dear Comrades,

I know its OTT but just wanted to share this piece of information for those who thought that BB could be used at state shooting range for practice/fun & like me are importing it for the same (my purpose was for fun & to get feel of a semi-auto firearm which otherwise would be a distant dream to own in India)

I just spoke to one of the board members of MRA to check if we could shoot CO2 BB at the range. The answer was "No".

This is for those who like me did not know about this.

So the only place you could enjoy plinking is on your terrace, open ground, farmhouse etc. And in Mumbai, its difficult to get any free space.

Cheers,
Rup

Hi Rup,

Sorry, I forgot to paste that mail. Here we go...
Dear Mr. Obhaan,

As requested please find the details needed for import this shipment.

The said importer should be affiliated with the state rifle association and should hold member ship for the same. The import should be of air rifle/pistol with 0.177 bore and the shooter should be registered with district/state/national rifle association who should in turn be affiliated with the club in which the shooter is registered. The identity card of the shooter associated with the state rifle association is required, with an authorisation letter to FedEx.

Our services will be terminated once the shipment is detained by Indian Customs just in case if the documents are not provided on time.

Thanks & Regards

Yes, the club doesn't allow shooters to use BB guns, and other fancy air/airsoft guns. Because they are not used or allowed in competitions. Shooting sport is considered to be a serious business, and the clubs wouldn't like the shooters to register with them just for the sake of importing the fancy rifles and pistols. :) I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

But importing model air pistols for personal use or for the sake of collection or backyard shooting is a different thing.

Custom officers would check the caliber, the documents- because they would do, and check what they have been told to, and whats written in their instruction book. :) As simple as that. May be you can PM me your number, and we'll discuss the stuff over the phone as well.

Cheers,
N.

Dear N,

I agree on point of rifle associations.

Pls check your PM.

And Subal's mail was very helpful indeed. Do you have a draft of authorization letter?

Cheers,
Rup

Hi Rup,

This is what Sandra wrote to me last week.

Cheers,
N.
Dear Customer,

Pyramyd Air, LTD., ships products internationally, but many countries
have restrictions on our items. It is up to you to know the laws in
your location. Contact your customs service to get the required import
permits for the items you order. If you order an item that is
confiscated by your customs service, Pyramyd Air is not responsible
for the loss nor will it reimburse you for the cost of the impounded
products or their shipment.

To place an order, use our online system at www.pyramydair.com.
We will contact you by email to verify that our terms are accepted.
Once you have agreed to our terms, we will give you a final shipping cost and
a total cost for your entire order. Do not make payment until we have given you the
final total.

We can not provide you a shipping cost quote through this email.
Shipping cost is based on weight and destination. Until you place your order
the shipping cost will be determined and we will contact you by email at that point.
There may be additional fees associated with importing and inland
shipping. Shipments will be sent with either FedEx or Schenker. FedEx
shipping service will be door-to-door. Schenker shipping service will
be from our door to a local airport for air-direct service.
If the need arises, our customer service department will assist in any
shipment claims or product returns. When these situations arise please
call us first for assistance.
Thank you,

Sandra

My email to Pyramyd air twice in the last 48 hours hasn't evoked any response. I wanted to know from them if they could split the combo package of rifle + scope, ie, send the air rifle alone, as there is a risk of the scope being confiscated, and if the cost of the scope, in that case, would be deducted. I don't know how to proceed with the order in such a case. There has been no response yet. If anybody has had such an experience (package split & sold), kindly post your experience.
Thanks,
Ebenezer

Dear Ebenezer,

They will not accept your order with ammo or scope which is strictly prohibited. I realized the same after trying to order PX9 with Walther Laser scope which was repeatedly rejected.

Also they have not responded as its a weekend.

Cheers,
Rup

Thanks Rup for the input. Most of their springers are now sold with a combo deal. I don't know what to do.

Dear Ebenezer,

The best option would be to either chat with them live after around 7 pm IST tomorrow or call them. I got all the information using the above two and also from inputs of silver9.

Pls send a mail to them on [email protected]. Sandra or Wendy will respond back to your queries.

As they say - Happy to Help!

Rup

Hi Rup,
It was to the same mail id that you have mentioned that I sent a mail, but no response. Did your transaction for the PX4 get through?

Hi Ebenezer,

Their response's getting delayed owing to the weekend. Just wait till tomorrow, and they'll get back to you. :)

Cheers,
N.
