However I am working on my DSRA/NRAI membership so hopefully next time around, when I get a couple more either in baggage or by courier, I won't have to pay the duties.

I'm a NRAI member still had to pay the CVD. AFAIK and have experienced you need a club membership just to get it cleared. I had to submit a copy of my club membership anyway.

Browning,

Last year an Air Arms S400 was sent from England via TNT and it sailed through customs, without the buyer having to show his club membership. So, I am assuming that FedEx or any big time courier should be able to clear it through customs.

Did you use FedEx or USPS/Royal mail etc. Because I know for a fact that FedEx as well as DHL clear their own customs, so they usually do not accept any shipment they cannot clear without hassles, whereas if you go through USPS or EMS etc., your shipment, whatever it may be, lands up at customs and is cleared as per the normal import clearance procedure (The consignee is notified and has to deposit duty etc. directly or through a CHA for clearance of the goods). I know 'cos I am in the import business and deal with these authorities daily.

However I do not know how FedEx will function on this shipment....so might as well use it as a learning experience; I mean if you can get your airgun in your hand by paying a couple of grand more than you would pay for USPS, with minimum hassles and in a time frame of 4-6 days, I doubt if anybody will mind the extra money being spent.

God Bless Mr. Jim Beam!!!

USPS would've been about $60-65. However USPS would have taken about a month to reach me..."

Not true I'm afraid. I have had three airguns shipped by USPS and it reaches in six or ten days. Plus you can track it.

Thanks for the info...will keep that in mind next time around.
I had one more reason for using FedEx though, I don't have a Rifle Club membership at the moment and wasn't sure if USPS could have the airgun cleared without it or not, so FedEx it was.

Usually these courier companies do custom clearace by themselfs if the amount of invoice is less than $1500 ~ $2000 ( vairies for diff. companies ).

UPS takes usually 4 - 6 days from USA.

Just got a call from FedEx.
The package will probably be delivered to my office later this afternoon on payment of duty amount :D :D .
So now I know the total cost and breakup is mentioned below for all:

Desert Eagle .177 CO2 Blowback Pistol US$ 142.49
Set of 3 Spare mags US$ 14-20
Walther PS22 Electronic Point Sight US$ 56-99
Crosman Pelgun Oil US$ 2-84
FedEx US$ 204-00
Total approx. INR 18,000 + Duty Rs. 3252-00, net INR 21000-00

Kind of steep if I look at the shipping, but what the hey, like I said before, "Tharak aur rocket insaan ko kahin bhi le jaa sakte hain!" :D :D
I gather I could have saved about US$150-00 or roughly INR 6500 if I could have been patient enought to order USPS; so I have promised myself the next time when I order my new toy, I will do so when I am fully sober and absolutely not under the influence of alcohol!
BTW here's a link to the next one I have my eye on:

http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/model.pl?model_id=343

Hope to get the next one around Diwali....gift to self.

Will have to switch to Kingfisher cans for a couple of days from Carlsberg, need some targets to try out the Eagle!

It also includes the damn Walther Electronic Scope!!!!
And yes....I did spend that amount, but what can I say, when u gotta go, u gotta go! In this case, it's when u wanna gun, u wanna gun!!!  :cheering: :uncontrollable:

I am in a state of delirium right now looking at this beautiful piece of work...my first REAL airgun!

So nothing matters at the moment.

Cheers (Mr. Old Monk is spending the night with me today!)

And yes...I feel much better compared to some poor sod with an arms licence who's going to blow 3-4-5 or maybe even 800 grand for a 20-30 year old Walther PPK or Colt or what-u-have-not!!

Aaaj main oopar....aasman neeche! aaj main aage, zamaana hai peechhe! Nothing matters at the moment....and I haven't even gotten around to firing a round yet!
