The spare piston is also available from Aimco and it says the spare is manufactured by Precihole http://aimco.co.in/products/235-preciho ... ifles.aspx

Good Initiative by Precihole to covert their 'spring piston' ARs to Nitro Piston :D
However the services of a 'good gunsmith' is necessary to make this conversion....

Yes, I had noticed that the nitro piston is listed in Aimco and KoviBazaar as a spare part at about 2.5K.
But my question was more on the scaleability part of the PH AR, to be converted from NX to SX.
I mean, if the Nitro gets infected by power drop, as many people claims, then replace the whole system with the spring piston assembly.
If the power drop is expected and experienced, then there is really no point in replacing the piston every 4K or 5K shots.
Instead I would prefer making it SX and use it as springer rather than throwing the whole AR away.

@Brihaji : Does that mean its possible? Well, 'Good Gunsmith' is going to be a tough ask, being in Bangalore. Other than help from any eminent IFGians, none of the gun store mechanics seem to be qualified and competent to get this done. And if at all they do, they will ask the price of a new AR, if not more.
I think you own PH NX in .22 (Scorpius), How would you rate its durability and power. Have you ever noticed any drop in power/ velocity/ accuracy, over a period of time?

Well even a spring will last only 5000 odd shots and will require changing.

I wish to make one point only.
A quality spring lasts much much longer than 5000 shots.
I have TTI springs in two of my guns.
My National25 has gone past 8000 shots and the gun did not lose a single ft per sec.
My local 35 is fitted with used TTI , and that also gone past same no.of shot but it is still going strong.
All that these springs have lost , are the actual free lengths , a 30 cms is reduced to 28 cms , for the other spring , I do not have any such figure.

I think , a good ued spring is always better for accuracy.

Not all those wander , are lost...............

I visited Olive Planet yesterday and the saw a few Precihole AR models there.
Noticed two things:-
1. None of the Scorpius Karbin models available there has a scope stopper, but the normal barrel ones had it
2. None of them had normal black stock as well

On inquiring, Chetan made two statements that I am not really convinced with:-
# Scorpius Karbin does not come with a scope stopper
# Scorpius Karbin comes with only brown and wood finish stocks, not in black at all
Is this really true?

Most people choose the Karbin model to mount a scope and if the model doesn't come with a scope stopper its a deal breaker. Also if the normal barrel models can have a scope stopper, then I do not see any reason why the Karbin cant have one. Also I checked with him if these ARs are from the old stock or something, to which he said its from the latest consignment that came a day ago.
Am confused, why do Precihole make it differently?

Though he claimed the stock comes only in brown and wood finish, he was fine to have the stock swapped with another available black one.

My Karbin model has a scope stop.
Even i can no longer see the black stock. Precihole has changed the vendor who provides the stock and the brown one is defenitely much better finished than the earlier black one.
Some learn by reading. A few by observation. The rest of 'em have to pee on the electric fence.

As an update, even I got a brown stocked Polaris from Aimco. Though I was expecting a black, I started liking the brown finish instantly.

Its quite clear that Chetan was incorrect on the point#1, regarding the scope stop not available for the Karbin models, as AnandNair confirmed his AR has a scope stop.
However, I think he was right on the point#2, the butt doesnt come in black for NX series.

@ulitmate sniper, the gas ram in precihole will outlast the spring power plant it may be good for 8000 cocking cycles, initial beta version may have gas leak issues.if you overcome that phobia then user experience is best in gas ram.
my opinion is you give a thought to choosing between the .177 over the .22 as everything comes together nicely namely the precision engineering of the Precihole Air Rifle and the accuracy implicit in flat trajectory of .177, make the best use of 12Ft.Lbs even though you already have the .177 in IHP

you have a promising decision matrix worthy of backing.

Finally I took the plunge and bought the Scorpius normal barrel in standard black stock finish.
Well, the experience so far, is not that wonderful, unfortunately.
Facing issues with zeroing due to some issues and some others as well.
I have opened a new thread on this - [Issue] Purchased Precihole NX Scorpius - Not Satisfied.
