Thanks for sharing the links- I have been browsing those sites since my childhood days.
Talking about the present scene in India. Would anyone get themselves a letter from MRA to import a .177 Beretta replica to practice at the club. I am expecting your answer in yes or no. Would MRA entertain that?
What's accepted worldwide is not the question. I am aware!
Thanks,
Arrun

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

What would anyone need a letter from XYZ Association or Shooting Club in the first place ? Simply because the GOI so says. I have already answered that. I hold my reservations about the need to introduce the "Nandi" of the shooting club in midst of my importing needs which have been spurred because India so far has not been able to produce a decent match AR or AP. Also "the club" is not the only place for plinking or practicing. So yes/no/ MRA/ NRAI does not matter. Once India decides to go global in competitions as in business then India better "accept" what is accepted worldwide. Not that India likes NSG or WTO, but India still accepts their strictures. Similarly in sports, especially non-cricket where ICC imposes ad India accepts. Since you are a lawyer and also aware on what's accepted world-wide why not pick up the cudgels on behalf of the shooting fraternity and make GOI see some sense ? You definitely have an edge on the rest of us in the matters of law.

I don't agree with you here.nagarifle wrote:i think its wrong for people of Indians to import and use frangi made household goods ie tv ,cameras, cell phone etc. i see no point as we have some very good local made ones here. or anything else frangi made.
if we all buy local made goods then we will be very wise and rich nation. we must tell the government not to import frangi made missals, guns and ships etc.
as for me i will get what i want if i can afford to why should i suffer with cheap and nasty goods? who has any moral or legal right to tell me what i should or should not import?
In fact Imports will only make us more competitive.
Competition and not patrons will make our manufacturers more competitive.
The Indian manufacturers will only learn to measure up to their firangi competitors when they are allowed to freely sell those products at market price.
Why else would IOF charge 1 lakh plus for their sub standard Revolvers?
No Competition.. People have no choice but to Buy IOF, without paying 100 times for a pre 1980 imported revolver/pistol?
