Nash,
I have the same model which was bought 12 years ago with same condition.I would suggest you to not to cock the gun until it is completely overhauled.The compression will no longer stand due to dryness of leather seal even after proper oiling because the quality of leather gets poorer with time.Inner surface of cylinder may be damaged due to rust also.
the leather seal can be replaced by modern synthetic seal to improve its performance.Also it doesn't have scope rail .. no problem this is also available in market.I have all this done myself to make my lovely gun a "Thunderstorm".
I can do everything favourable to your gun.
just for knowledge...What is the caliber??

Hello,
My Diana air rifle is a 1970 model. I am in dire need of a new main spring for the same.Please give me information where I can get an original one in India. I am from Calcutta( Kolkata ).
