SPoke to Dr. Yesterday and tried to convince him to come on aboard, he has promised me one thing, that all the comments, suggestions that we make to him will be replied/answered but through email to me and then onto IFG. I am not too excited by this concept, I was in fact looking forward to having him on board, taking questions directly. But I do have a rather nasty idea- What if we start a a new topic, say something like - Dr. Shirsat's forum, or somehting more catchy??? Then I could ask him to at least cruise through the questions and I am quite sure that out of sheer interest he will start replying.
Dont know whether this is ethical, let the MODs decide.

Dear Gaurav and other IFGian friends.
Please find attached reply from Dr. Shirsat. He regrets his inability to come on the site due to work pressure but thanks you all for your most valuable feedback and interest. He also assures you, that in the near future, he will be producing far better airguns and air pistols, So kindly bear with him.
Best Regards

2 Changes requested in existing products
Dr.-IHP priority are only Competition models . Trying to stay on this limited scale does not justify any new investment in machines etc. Most of the staff is post retirement and on extension and do not want any new headaches. Development which is done takes too long to reach production.eg. A simplified compressed air rifle has been completed more than 1 year ago with drawings and sample ready yet it is not in production. This section lists down the improvements/changes requested in the existing products. These are being suggested based on extended use of the said products by the members of IFG.
2.1 Spring action rifle and pistol

1. The trigger specifically in the pistol is too hard and can't be easily controlled. It required too hard a squeeze to fire the pistol which leads to inaccuracy.
Dr.-(Directives were to use N25 parts and fixtures while designing the pistol in 1993.)

2.1. Instead of a welded tube for the power plant, IHP could replace it with a "SEAMLESS" well machined one.

Dr.-IHP has always used a seamless tube.
3.2. The Seal from the existing leather could be replaced with a Synthetic Seal.
Dr.-Synthetic PU seals have been used for about2 years or more.
3. The trigger mechanism could be revamped, made more smoother by hardening the piston sear.
Dr.-Trigger unit was designed in 1994 but never incorporated4.
5. The rear sight could be improved for smoother functioning & adjustments.
Dr.-Sight design is perfectly ok but fixtures are ancient and have not been replaced due to costs involved.
6. The pistol grip dia could be reduced suitably for a better grip.
Dr.-Unilateral desicion taken by woodshop to prevent wood cracking.
7. Checkering in the fore-end & pistol grip could be added for better grip & providing aesthetic look to the stock.
Dr.-No facility and would increase cost.
8. A matte finish melamine coat could be put on the stock, than the current spirit varnish.
Dr.-Touchwood melamine is used but final coat is glossy.

2.2 Pneumatic air rifle
1. The rifle is too heavy for normal use Match rifles usually are.
Dr.-Sporter multipump design was made but company didn’t want to produce hunting guns

3.1 Multishot PCP rifle
Dr.-Development is on. I have a sample but want to do further work on production sample.

3.2 Multishot PCP pistol
Dr.-Only a company like Umarex or Crosman with worldwide sales and volume can justify the construction process.

4.1 Pumps
Dr.-IHP is currently producing PCP air guns and pistols. However there are no filling stations available to an average user except in-case of membership in a good range. Filling station using scuba gear is not in economic range of every individual. Imported pumps such as those manufactured by Airforce and Hills are also not readily available. Pump made by me is available from Capapie Sports Equipment for Rs. 8,000.

4.2 Co2 cylinders

Dr.-Volume not enough and costly

4.3 Cleaning Pellets

Dr.-Gsmith manufactures

4.4 Cleaning Kits, Oils and Servicing Tools
Dr.-Otis had tried . Shooters only took free samples and then did not buy.

5.3 Newsletter
It is requested that a newsletter be published by IHP on their sire or on forum http://indiansforguns.com/ to help us gain knowledge of upcoming products, expert advice and other selected topics at description of IHP.
Dr.- They have been frequently reminded, they will probably get around to doing it at some point of time .

5.4 Detailed manuals for products including how to service
It is requested that IHP publishes detailed manuals for their products which include guidelines for common problems and there resolution. It is also required that detailed guidelines around servicing the product be published around simple things like cleaning or oiling the gun.

Dr.-Company not wiliing wish to control costs

Dr.-I am very grateful to IFG members for this feedback and promise to do whatever is possible by me to fulfil these requests.

Hi hvj1,

> Great job done - a lot of questions have been answered. Thank a Ton.
> IHP using 'Seamless Tubes' is a revelation.
> Wish they would soon make available their new Trigger Assembly - Is it available at an extra cost as a spare? if so it would be a great add on to all existing IHP owners.
> I visited IHP at Vatwa last week - met Mr. Makhija - he too mentioned about their 'cost cutting' attitude!!
> I wanted a spare butt for my IHP35 and he obliged - I want to do some checkering on the fore-end & pistol grip - will post the pics when done.
> Once again - Great Report man.
Cheers
