Suggestion for a Air rifle suitable for my son aged 9 yrs.?
Dear fellow members,
My elder son who is aged 9 years is showing keen interest in shooting, however the National Air Gun model 35 that I have is big for him to hold with the butt in his shoulder.
Are there any air rifles that any of you can suggest for young kids?
Appreciate any inputs!
Regards,
Ragu

SDB 23 is perfect Airgun for a 9 yrs old boy.
It weighs around approx. 1900grms.
It is a nice toy and also adults love to shoot it.

Thank you vsraja and basu for your quick and valuable suggestions! I will read through the specs. Looking at specs quickly I see the Junior model is about half a feet smaller than the model 23, and lighter in weight. But I will physically measure and see what would be the ideal length which would fit into my son's hands and purchase accordingly.
Thanks again for your time!! Much appreciated!

I started with a DIANA MOD 25 when I was 9 yrs old, holding the but under my armpit and shooting tins at 10 ft range

Oh yeah.. I share the same experience.. ! My kids try the same, but its really difficult to get a proper aim.. its fun for casual plinking though.. Thought I'd my elder son a rifle for his size, so he develops on his skills.. hoping he will grow into an ace shooter..

I really love those days. The DIANA cost my father Rs.500/- in 1966.

Why not a air pistol? Or junior is very fond of air rifle?

I think pistols being more handy and easy to use, are more prone to accidents if not used with care. It is much more difficult to shoot accurately with pistol than a rifle. Hence, a beginer should start with a rifle.Vassili Zaitsev wrote:Why not a air pistol? Or junior is very fond of air rifle?
