Hi need some advice on buying a second hand air rifle model HW 77K .22 . I have been given to understand that there is a difference in the butt of the old the new model. I am a bit confused as it mentions "MADE IN WEST GERMANY" on the rifle . According to the seller the rifle is only a couple of years old. Though the rifle seems to be in very good condition would appreciate advise as to what checks I should do before going in for the purchase. A tentative value also would be most welcome.
Thanks & regards
N

Re: HW77k
The re-unification of East and West Germany happened in late 1990.
While it is a possibility that products were produced/sold for a short period of time after that, which were marked "made in West Germany"; most German companies quickly switched to marking their products "Made in Germany".
It is highly unlikely that an airgun so marked would just be "a couple of years old".
While it is possible that the airgun remained on a dealer's shelves for many years and was then sold, it is not very probable.

I agree with XL's opinion. It is a 22 cal, so the seller will obviously want a premium as those are not freely 'importable'. No expert but I'm guessing anything north of 60,000... Depending on age, condition, FAC or non-FAC and your own bargaining ability!
Some people say that the earlier HW's were better built, so it's vintage may not necessarily be a negative - so long as condition is good to excellent.
