SDB 300, an underlever .22 air rifle reviews

Post by ssp626 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 1:43 pm

Hi, I am Sreekanth from Kochi, Kerala. I am new to I4G. I bought a SDB 300 underlever .22air rifle from delhi in September 2012. I found it to be a powerful rifle with reasonable accuracy. Advantages were the smooth underlever action, accuracy, build quality of stock and power... between 600 and 700 fps. Disadvantages: Metallurgy, weak spring (changed mine a week after purchase to a custom made one), bad foresight (i welded mine on to the rifle) and no mounting for scopes! all the dealers in delhi seem to be recommending SDB nowadays. If any body has used SDB air rifles before and are continuing to do so... i thought of opening a new topic index for ideas.

SDB 300, an underlever .22 air rifle reviews

Post by ssp626 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 1:53 pm

The things I have done and am planning for my SDB 300 are as follows...
- I have changed the spring and washer with custom made ones.. Result: more power, more penetration and much straighter trajectory. However the trigger pull has become harder and a little more jump is present.
- welded the foresight permanently... Result: easier zeroing, consistent accuracy (grouping at 50 mtrs is 2-3 inches)
- planning to include a scope mounting, bluing the barrel and painting the stock completely black.

if anybody is interested in only indian air rifles... please do let me know.

Hi...I don't know if you'd still be reading or replying to this forum query since my question is pretty delayed, to your post, by almost 6 months and more. But just in case I am lucky here are my questions-
i. How much did you pay for your SDB 300
ii. What is the specifics of the custom spring you fitted( if this info is private, do not disclose).
iii. What is the target range you achieved before you fit the custom spring mechanisms.

I own an old SDB 150 and its giving me too many problems, yet I manage to hit center, bulls eye 4 out of 10 and magpie 7/10 shots from 65 feet/ 20 mtr approx. Intending to buy SDB 200 or 300 or whatever is there latest model.

Thanks & Wishes
