Reducing Springer hold sensitivity

Post by pratik_mahale » Tue Dec 18, 2012 4:14 pm

I found this link about adding weight to Spring air rifle to counterbalance the weight of the scope

http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/blog/20 ... ivity.html

Does anybody have any experience about this theory?

Its not a theory. He has done it to his R1 and knows what he is talking about.
You can try it out yourself.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Today I added some lead weight to the bottom of my Pegasus pistol grip
Don’t know exact weight but the balance point of my Pegasus is now at the center of knee rest

http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 29#p191529

Now when I rest the gun on my elbow it’s perfectly balance

Now the final outcome of the R&D

The target paper is placed at 20 yards
Position: - FT sitting position with gun resting on elbow
Pellets used: - Master Shot Flat Head .177 (Yellow Box)
Scanned target paper with orange color paper behind it

First 5 shot groups was 26 mm & second was 20 mm but the POI was up & right side so I readjusted the scope & next shot hit near the center of the circle
20 Yards 5 shots 2 grouping.jpg
So change the target paper & this time the grouping of 4 shot was just 12 mm
20 yards 4 shot grouping.jpg
Now I want to hit the bull’s eye so readjusted the scope & the first shot hit the bull’s eye I was thrilled took the second shot just hit little bit right but the third shot aging hit the at the center
For the forth shot due to little bit pressure of hitting the bull’s eye I took some more time & pellets hit out side the 1” circle my mistake so just took 2-3 min rest & the fifth shot was again near the center of the circle
20 Yards 5 shots.jpg
Will do some more testing & post the result

I`ve got a Springer ..... She`s quite sensitive to being held .....
