eternalme,

I am trying to find out the legal aspects to manufacture the same but unfortunately have not been able to get the correct info so far.

The projectile shot through it is not harmless, it can kill or maim any living thing. Properly tuned vesrsions in .22 or .177 can attain energy in excess of 30 ft/lbs or 40 Joules. We need only 4 to 5 ft/lbs of energy to break human skin barrier.

With the best materials & workmanship this product can be made under 5000/- INR on commercial basis. Hope I get to make it sooner.

Could you please comment on the price of this thing if its legal for manufacturing ,for, its no more than a machine for releasing pressurised gas/air from a canister and utilizing the release in projecting a harmless little projectile :-), no fire involved and as long as its .22 or .177 its perfectly legal to own and make.
Small scale industry version maybe :-).

Airdevil,

I was checking with my Lawyer and he quoted specifically that no license is required to own (and so make as well , assuming) a gas powered gun in .177 and .22 bores as its not a firearm. With exclusion of power , the gun in question needs to be under powered and the projectile shouldn't pass through a wood block one inch thick or so, need little checking on this one though.

airdevil,

Make a batch with IHP .177 barrels and I'll be your first customer at 1.5 times the price you mention. I'd say you are unduly worried about the "legal" aspect.

Air guns are classified as toys here, and if you made a few toys for sale, how would that be illegal ?
Make sure they are .177 and under 12ft/lbs with the lightest Indian made pellets and you should be fine.

How's the IHP Mod 35 trigger coming along ?

Airdevil,

Ask about manufacturing air rifles from the Ministry of Home under RTI.

Download the form for applying under RTI from the MOH web site. All that is required is a draft of Rs.10 payable at Delhi.Send it through registered or speed post.Courier will not be allowed into the office. All this will cost you a hundred rupees or less.

We might be able to see pictures of the new third IHP PCP presently called JUNIOR by the end of the month. Fingers crossed.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.
