Advice a gun for a total beginner!

Post by amitashr » Sun Jan 15, 2012 8:53 pm

Hey guys, I want to buy an air rifle for practicing in my back yard.. I have a budget of around 4k.. I have never owned a rifle and I'm a total beginner to shooting.. So please suggest the following:

1. A good air rifle under 4k
2. Good bullets for the same
3. Maintainence equipment for the same
4. A good online site to buy the rifle.. I want a site that delivers across India.. Particularly Chennai/Bangalore

Thank you

hi amitashr, i think rather than all this, you should visit your nearest gun dealer, as you are from Bangalore there must be good air gun dealers....for a good dealer members from Bangalore can help you, try finding them on forum and message them, they will help you(i think).

Go for IHP N35 .177 cal Air Rifle and G smith P 10 .177 cal pellets..A decent air rifle to start with at your budget. Good for target practice, plinking, pest control.. Search google you will find number of online stores..Happy shooting :D

Dear Amitashr,
I would suggest you to go for National-25 or Cannon 35 in .177 caliber.
I have the former one , but it took quite a bit of tuning to make it dead
accurate.
Cannon 35 comes with better performance out of the box, got nice accuracy,
as reported.
In both the cases they offer 6 to 7 FPE, thus make the rifle a great toy.

amitashr,

You could consider either the IHP 25 or the IHP 35 in .177. Try contacting aimco.co.in. They deal in IHP airguns and do ship to Bangalore. Their service has also been found very satisfactory by quite a few members out here.
