Air Rifle Shooting in Mumbai - Beginner

Post by vivekasia » Mon May 02, 2011 7:55 pm

Hi All,

I am Vivek, I just moved into Mumbai. Shooting sports had always been my area of interest, and now, I have decided to take it up seriously. I would request some inputs from your end, if possible, regarding best places in Mumbai to start with training, then, professional training, Target practices, and some best places to buy air rifles in Mumbai or to import it from the US. When I was looking to buy, I couldn't find much information on buying quality rifles in India....I am quite new into this sport, so if you could share some info and direct me, it would be really helpful .

ciao

To beginwith, I found out MRA is starting weekend training programs from end of this month, which would cost 3k, and said they would provide everything. I also found the Air Rifle Academy in Dahisar, has monthly programs, with 1k for a month training, with 2 hrs per week or 2k for a 1-day crash program in Dadar.

Any feedback on these or any suggestions/reviews will be very helpful.

Also for Target practice, any suggestions?

Do I need to buy an air rifle to start with? Your advices would be very helpful.

Get trained in a place that you find to be providing more value to you.
AFAIK MRA offers only air pistol course and the one in Dahisar only air rifle course in a category which is only allowed for school going students thanks to the new rules by NRAI

Be advised that getting into shooting sports has just become a five figure affair.
Don't rush through your training.
All the best

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.
