Unwelcome competition
Indian toy manufacturers are certainly not amused.
Girish Sharma, President of All India air gun and air pistol manufacturers and dealers, said, "The manufacturing of any non-civil weapon like AK 47 and R85 is restricted, according to the law
. However all these Chinese What the law says
According to Arms Act 1959, only such kind of air guns, air rifles and air pistols can be sold openly which satisfy that the projectiles discharged from such guns or pistols do not perforate a target 12 inches square, formed by deal-wood boards of even grains, free from knots planned on both sides and of thickness of half inch and one inch for air pistols and air guns/ rifles respectively.
products are smuggled into India and the authorities are clueless. The license fee for manufacturing such toys is hefty. As a result our manufacturers are unable to compete. This is denting the Indian toy industry comprehensively."
Girish Sharma seems to have provided some absolutely foot in mouth comments to the reporter. Is this the same Girish Sharma of gsr991 fame? , no pun intended but Mr. Girish you ought to re-consider the comment you hae given, and if your words have been twisted here, you ought to send your protest and have the reference taken off!!
The article sends wrong signals, how many who read this will realise that an airgun manufacturer cannot manufacture any arm... whether non-civil or civil, if ever there is a classification of that sort, except for in the reporters fantasies. wrong news in media seems to be forgiven so easily!!! even by the knowledgable! which is unforgivable!
We can laugh off this, or record our protest on this column fillers!!
