Hi
I want to understand how to focus an air rifle on a target. There are some confusions in my mind.
The equipment I am using
1. 10 m air target
2. Full shooting gear
3. Walther air rifle
As there is rear sight, fore sight and target.....
Do I focus rear sight and target or forsight and target...
I know I am to align them...but which one do i focus on ???
Thanks
Regards
Gaurav

Re: Question | How to Focus | Air rifle
I am not sure if I correctly understand your questions , but here is what one should follow. focus on Front sight and targets. There is no point on focusing on rear sight. Just make sure you have a clear vision of front sight and target. what size of apparture you are using in your Rear sight ? Sometime if its too small , shooter often get a dizzy vision. Also make sure you are having appropriate light on target say arround 1200 to 1500 lux.
May i know what is the average score that you are getting these days ?

Re: Question | How to Focus | Air rifle
> Agree with Saptarshi - must keep the front sight, often referred to as the 'bead' aligned with the target.
> If the rear sight is a peep-hole then look through it and do the alignment, if the rear sight is a ' VGroove', then align the rear sight with front sight & target.
> The ideal aim should be what is called a '6 O'clock' hold. Weapon hold & breath control also play a great part while shooting. Only constant practice make one perfect.
> Keep shooting and after 100 or so pellets, you'll get the hang of it, by studying the grouping at different distances.

Gverma,
Go on the internet, there are some excellent basics on 10m air rifle shooting wikipedia, also hosts information. Read thoroughly. get yourself a good coach. I see that you have invested heavily, now take the effort to locate a good coach, If in Delhi contact Ms Shakun Bhugra her telephone number is available at NRAI office.

If you can get coaching, nothing like it.
Meanwhile this should help.
http://www.targetshooting.ca/docs/2-ar_aide.zip

Also get Abhinav Bindra's book. Expensive but Indispensable and one of only two textbooks for ISSF shooting basics.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.
