Which airpistol for a beginner?

Post by dhillon.gurpreet » Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:33 pm

Dear Hot Shots,

I intend importing an airpistol (.177) for my daughter aged 12 as personal baggage from US where I am going in next couple of weeks. She has alrady taken the membership of NRAI. Can some one please help me as to which make will be suitable for a beginner. I dont want to get into hassel of importing a CO2 based airpistol. If she gets interested may be she could participate in events later, all depends on her interest. At this stage I just want to initiate her into this exciting sport. Any other information on this subject will be icing on the cake.
Thanks in anticipation

Your best bet is the IZH Baikal 46M. Not only is it not CO2, it also offers match grade accuracy.

Dhillon saab try to get a competation grade weapon for your daughter so that she my learn and become an ace shooter by using a good quality weapon . . Mack The Knife is an expert in the field ,try contacting him through PM . Secondly get membership of a shooting club , that will save you the custom duty while coming back to India.

hi, gurpreet,
and congrats, for making a decision on buying an airpistol for ur daughter....
12 yrs is perfect for her wrist, palm, shoulders & elbow.....
Now which brand.....only Morini Short (electronic trigger), it is swiss made.....best even for starters..... & if u also like to practise some day, buy an addittion (medium) M- size grip .....her size should be (Small) xxS
I too just got one for my daughter & helped my 4-5 friends in buying and importing......and I am using Morini Long (electronic trigger)

Anyway, up - to - you, have a nice & safe journey, shooting too....

)))cheers!!!

Gurpreet,

Great decision. The Baikal suggested by miss 3006 is no doubt a fantastic starter airpistol but the weight will definitely be a factor for the kiddo. If I were in your place, I would without hesitation go in for a Steyr. Check out the link given below:

They are the authorised dealers for quite a few competition grade airpistols and air rifles. All the best to the kid:)

Steyr LP2 and benelli kite junior, the Aeron spider junior is also a good airpistol for starters
