Probably the most ornate gun ever.

Post by Vikram » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:40 am

One may not like the taste. But, the details and the quality of engraving and carving on this gun is incredible and I have never seen such intricate work.

Le Page ( Presentation) Percussion Hammergun, This magnificent Le Page was the corner stone of the Famous Harold's Club Museum. In the museum catalog the information states this masterpiece by Le Page was gifted from then French President M. Paul Jules Grevy to the President of Mexico one Don Manuel Gonzalas in 1879. The Le Page was reported to have been built in 1860. The Le Page has very elaborate carving and engraving throughout the entire piece. This is truly a one of a kind display of craftsmanship. Every time you look at the piece you discover something hidden in the engraving, from birds, rabbits, peacocks, dogs, foxes and even faces. This Le Page was examined by many of today's Premiere Dealers and Manufactures. Their opinions are that this gun is in the top handful of the finest guns in the world, if not the best. It is also featured in the 1851 London Crystal Palace Exhibition Catalog, as an illustration.
Price: $ 450,000

I am glad you all liked it.

Has anyone seen the examples of Mexican style horse saddles? At least in pictures? May not be to everyone's liking but very ornately done.
