CHENNAI CUSTOMS HAD COT SOME 3 GUYS CARRYING 10 SCOPES SAYING THEY CAN BE USED FOR AK-47
I DONT UNDERSTAND ARE SCOPES FOR SPECIFIC MODELS BECAUSE IN EUROPE ANY SCOPE CAN BE USED
FOR ANY AIR GUN OR SMALL SCOPES FOR PISTOLS .AND THIS TIMES NOW SHOWS AS TEROR CARGO
IN THE HEADLINES ......
DONT KNOW WHATS HAPPNING

I wonder if automatic weapons like AK47s can be mounted with a scope! It could perhaps be done if the weapon is swithced on to a single shot mode. Basically AK47s are close combat / assault weapons as such the scopes would go out of alignment due to the heavy vibrations occuring during its rapid fire. Secondly its short barrel length will affect its accuracy if the target is beyond 200 yds. Besides this AK47s are roughly handled and they can withsatand very rough treatment - the scopes may not be able to take it.

PS: You cannot use any scope on air-guns. The scope has to have ASR (anti shock resistance) technology to withstand the dual shock that's peculiar to airguns. Otherwise the scope settings & cross hairs will get damaged.

Hi Ven,

Scopes can be used on air rifles, but they have to be with ASR technology. Normal scopes cannot withstand the dual shock that air rifles are subject to. The first shock is created when the trigger blade releases the piston sear and the second when the piston rams the fore-end of the power plant to push the pellet out. This is peculiar to air rifles - unlike in a rim fire or centre fire cartridge firing weapons the shock is uni directional - forward. So if you are planning to fix a scope on your air rifle please make sure to get a scope with ASR tecnology - Eg. Walther (ASR) 4 x 32 is a popular scope abroad for air rifles. In fact my IHP35 22 cal air rifle has a Walther(ASR) scope. If your gun has no provision to mount a scope Check with IFGian Tirth. He can guide you for special base mounts with stopper that prevents the backward creep of scopes. Good Luck.
