Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

i for one will not stand for treason, so now i am sited, now i can stand for treason.

well is it not treason to put carp in the hands of our brave boys fighting for our lives? i do not know about you all but IOF is an ordrance of treason, by placing arms that do not function in the hands of the Army who are less able to proctect themslevs let alone the cititzen of India.

We should not see it anything less then that.

The worst past is that there is no PRACTICAL remedy for this.
All our suggestions etc etc remain on paper - none to implement.

Hmmm, since India is a republic and the government is of the people, by the people and for the people etc. logically any govt. is subservient to the people & the constitution, so a crime against either should be counted as a crime against the nation...

When was the last time a PIL solved a pro-gun related issue in this country?? Hmm...let me think.

Never!!!

Until unless the people who use them (both military and civilian) wake up and stop purchasing the sub-standard product being dished out, no pil's ever gonna save us.

If done properly, one should not underestimate the potential/power of PIL

i see no reason to indicate that our boys are holding Cr** as i believe that is in a way insulting the boys in green and blue. thus used the carp.

It's sad. Machining an item is relatively easy today .....unless the Government is doing it.
Any of India's major industrial companies could easily manufacture high quality guns if they were allowed to. They make pretty much everything else.
If given the chance, they could easily rival any arms manufacturing plant.

On the same page, just below the article on Indian guns, is an article about manufacturing a Colt M4:
New machines were still being installed at the 26,687-square metre plant as The Malay Mail was shown around by Colt Defence executive vicepresident James R. Battaglini.
It takes 3 1/2 hours to complete a single M4 and the plant can churn out 900 a day with options for more when required.
The finished product then go below the plant for the test-firing process to ensure it performed to specifications.
Colt boasts a record of every gun made so that if it does not perform well, the company can determine if it is made to specs.
“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense” — Winston Churchill, Oct 29, 1941
